RE: Haiku/Short-Poem Contest XI

This has sat for several days without any new entries and, since all people who have signed up already submitted their poems, I've decided to start voting early. The poll will remain open until around noon (Central Standard Time) on Saturday, January 14th. Contestants, please remember that, if you submitted an entry, you must vote for at least one; otherwise any points yours received won't be counted.

RE: Haiku/Short-Poem Contest XI (Vote now through Saturday, 12:00PM CST!)

It's amazing how many I disliked out of these submissions. And being the grammar Nazi that I am, I did not vote for any of the poems that did not follow the 5-7-5 pattern.

I still voted, though. Of the ones I did select, I really really liked them.

The only reason I changed this to include short poems too was because people were having trouble meeting the syllable count. However, there's the unsaid restriction that, if select short poems seem too wordy, I may disqualify them since they're only supposed to depict a breif moment like haikus.

I have the ability to see who does and who doesn't vote, but thanks anyways.

That's true, but since this is primarily a haiku contest, that's why I voted the way I did. I'm CDO like that.

Is it too late to join this. I am a bit new to these forums, but I love poetry.

If its not too late:

What to change?
A Resolution,
what shall I change this new year
Besides who I am?

Sheesh, so much competition with the entries...

RE: Haiku/Short-Poem Contest XI (Vote now through Saturday, 12:00PM CST!)

@Nightmane: Yeah, sorry. I jumped the gun on this round and started voting a few days earlier than normal. The next round will begin on Saturday or Sunday, though, so feel free to enter that one.

Edit: On second thought, never mind! We've still got two days before voting ends, so I added you anyways.

All right, I'm jumping the gun as usual...

The turnout for this round seems to have been pretty good, and I think it's safe to say that The Fallen One has pretty much dominated this round with a six-point victory. I wasn't too surprised since it seemed like he had a fair lead from the beginning anyways. With a three-way tie, the runners-up are Ice Arceus, Zyflair, and Inconceivable! Likewise, with a two-way tie, Lucky Fire and Non Sequitur both came in third. Congratulations to all of you for a job well done!

The next round will hopefully start tomorrow, and the theme will be Writer's Choice.

"Writer's Choice"? :p

But whoa! What a big tie between Ice Arceus, Zy, and Inconceivable! Congrats! Also, Congrats to Non Sequitur for winning in third! :)

(I forgot to mention TFO. Congratulations!)

This is getting to be pretty fun, actually. |D

Well, congratulations to you, Ganon. Be seeing you in the next round.

Congrats on the win, The Fallen One. Also, congrats Zyflair and Inconceivable for coming in second place and Lucky Fire and Non Sequitur for both coming in third.

This round was pretty fun and more competitive; lets hope the next round is just as fun.
