Biweekly Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XV

Rules and Entry Information

1.) Signups will again be based on the order in which submissions are made, meaning that all entries are to be made upfront (either here or via PM to me). The limit for entries is again set at fifteen participants. Once an entry is submitted, it cannot be swapped out for something else or altered in any way.

2.) Submissions are expected to be haiku-style short poems (those with a “five-seven-five” syllable format spread out across three lines). However, other types of short poems will be accepted so long as they aren't under two lines and don’t exceed four lines in length. New entries will be accepted until Wednesday, March 7, 2012 around noon, until all slots have been filled, or the thread sits several days without new entries.

3.) Each poem for the contest must follow the selected theme for the competition. Due to artist’s having different interpretations of ideas, no haiku will be disqualified for writing about divergent topics so long as the theme is tied in somehow (if it isn’t, then you will be disqualified for the duration of this round). This contest’s theme is Regret.

4.) Voting will run for three days and be open to all members of PokéBeach. Everyone will be allowed to vote for up to three of their favorites. All participants are required to vote; however, you are not allowed to vote for your own (if I catch you doing so, you’ll be docked a point).

*Rules, timescales, and other parameters are subject to change without notice.

Remembrance

Of my broken heart.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XV

One-word "entries" aren't acceptable for this type of contest and get removed on sight because all they are is spam. Anyone else who submits them in the future will just get blacklisted from this contest because it's unfair for people who actually submit haikus and short poems if I allow that type of stuff here.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XV

However, other types of short poems will be accepted so long as they don’t exceed four lines in length.
you should probably put that rule in the rules.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XV

Fair enough, and edited. But this should be one of those things that goes without saying.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XV

when you have a contestant whose prose is inspired by Hemingway you should take nothing for granted.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XV

No Regret

I have no regret
for the death of those who may
oppose the dark king.

Looking Back
Glimpse the road behind,
A mess of shards to behold,
Move on or stay broke.

RE: Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XV

Voting starts now and runs through Saturday, as usual. Anybody who submitted a poem has to vote for at least one that isn't their own. If you don't, I'll be announcing that you didn't this time to make sure everybody knows who has been disqualified.
