Biweekly Haiku & Short-Poem Contest XXI

Rules and Entry Information

1.) Signups will again be based on the order in which submissions are made, meaning that all entries are to be made upfront (either here or via PM to me). The limit for entries is again set at fifteen participants. Once an entry is submitted, it cannot be swapped out for something else or altered in any way.

2.) Submissions are expected to be haiku-style short poems (those with a “five-seven-five” syllable format spread out across three lines). However, other types of short poems will be accepted so long as they don’t exceed four lines in length. New entries will be accepted until Wednesday, May 30, 2012 around noon, until all slots have been filled, or the thread sits several days without new entries.

3.) Each poem for the contest must follow the selected theme for the competition. Due to artist’s having different interpretations of ideas, no haiku will be disqualified for writing about divergent topics so long as the theme is tied in somehow (if it isn’t, then you will be disqualified for the duration of this round). This contest’s theme is Lifestyles.

4.) Voting will run for three days and be open to all members of PokéBeach. Everyone will be allowed to vote for up to two of their favorites. If more than eight entries are submitted, then participants may vote for their own poem. However, if less are entered, then they may not and a point will be deducted from the score of anyone who does so.

*Rules, timescales, and other parameters are subject to change without notice.

Life equals style,
live your life, you'll get style!
how do you live life?

Did you say Lifestyles? Okay.

Noted!

Regrets
I see around me,
The poor choices of many,
Who enjoy ponies.

Yep, I went there. It's a lifestyle choice.

Lack of Reconsideration
People taking routes,
I chuckle as they push walls,
Not going around.

Let's see, my introduction into this forum will be entering!
This isn't too good, but here it is.

Life=Style
Life equals style,
live your life, you'll get style!
how do you live life?

Sorry for the slight delay, but the entry list has been updated!

Procrastination
Receiving homework,
putting it of to Monday,
because it's Friday.

Depression
Death awaits my soul,
though there is no soul to reap,
for I have no soul.

My apologies for delays on updating this, but I don't have a lot of Internet access during Memorial Day aside from my phone, which is a pain to try and work from at times. In any case, the OP has been updated. Any new entries may not get updated until Wednesday as I won't have Wi-fi access until then.

Hmm, Lifestyles....I know

This one is entitled: Life of Rogon

Training every day
Hoping that one I will
Form a mighty clan

Voting begins now. Depending on the results, I may drop the "no voting equals instant disqualification" rule for this round, but only if we get more than 25 like the previous round.

Wouldn't it be better to vote for 2 choices this round instead of 3, seeing as there's so few of us?

I supposed you're right. I'll remove one of my own votes, and everyone who hasn't voted thus far should only vote for two this round.

Submitted. By the way:
Poll: Which three poems are your favorites this round? (Contestants cannot vote for their own. Limit: two votes per person)
I bolded an oversight.

Minor update: Voting may run through either late tomorrow night or even Sunday morning. I've got to work tomorrow and I'm not sure how long I'll be offline. I apologize for the possible delay.
