I think that the series ended on a good note; everything was fine, they all got married and had children, the end.

I meant was it would be easier to do any type of sequel in the present than do wardrobe and props for 100 years ago.

Oh, I thought you meant a sequel to the story we all know and love :p

I can kinda see your point; however I don't imagine it would be that hard for the producers/costumes/stuffs for them to do it in the 1920s America.

'Harry Potter' producer David Heyman talks about upcoming 'Fantastic Beasts' spinoff

Three weeks ago, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling conjured an Internet frenzy when she and Warner Bros. announced that a new adaptation of her book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a popular supplement to her Potter series was in the works. The announcement revealed that the film will be set in the same wizarding world as Harry Potter — but follow magizoologist Newt Scamander, a professor of magical creatures, and take place 70 years before Harry’s journey began.

I was really into Harry Potter, and I participated in this competition on TV where I was asked Harry Potter questions and won 20.000 krones (Norwegian currency).

I love all the books, but my favorite has to be the Philosopher's stone and The Deathly Hallows.
My favorite movie adaptions is The Chamber of Secrets, the one I dislike the most i The Prisoner of Azkaban because I was scared to death as a kid when Peter Pettigrew appeared on the map and when Lupin turned into a werewolf.

The best characters (the ones I LOVED reading about) was Ron's family and Draco Malfoy (especially in the later books after Voldemort's revival)

I must say, hearing about the new spin-off is very exciting. I still remember when I picked up my first Harry Potter book back in 1st grade and I couldn't put them down afterwards. Then for Christmas I would search for more and I ended up with the spin-off books. I am just curious as to how they plan on making it a movie.

It's HP weekend on ABC Family - they're showing Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 tonight @ 8pm for those who haven't seen it in a while. :p

Am I wrong in thinking that Dumbledore might be present in this spinoff? He was certainly alive at the time.

I don't wanna get my hopes up, but it'd be awesome if Dumbledore was in the spinoff... but knowing the franchise, they'll probably just mention his name and that's it. JK Rowling is writing the script, nevermind haha. She does what she wants.

Considering it's set 70 odd years before the main series, it's likely it may be before Dumbledore gained any notice in the wizarding world.

Or perhaps it could be the time when he discovers the uses of Dragon's blood in potions, I can't seem to remember when he did that.

Harry Potter...
It's been a while since I've read the books and only until (but included) the Order of the Phoenix. The books are way better than the movies and after watching the differences between the Prisoner of Azkaban and the movie I lost interest in these (and between the movies themselves, for example Hagrid's hut). Also, I think the best thing in the series is Hogwarts and while the books can make us travel to that magical place and almost live it, the movies fail to do this, namely after the second one.
The only negative thing about the series is the constricted world (like I've said I've read the books some time ago an not all of them so correct me if I'm wrong). We know that magic isn't restricted to England and we've read and seen that in the Goblet of Fire but Voldemort seems a little to blind when it comes to domination and the rest of the world somewhat passive about it.

Favorite house? Slytherin all the way. Btw, with the release of XY we now have a perfect Pokémon to represent Gryffindor: Pyroar. Serperior for Slytherin, Linoone for Hufflepuff and perhaps Honchcrow or Braviary for Ravenclaw! :p

Favorite character? Either Snape or Lucius Malfoy. The movies greatly contributed to this, namely Lucius. Also, every time I look at Snape I remember the actor playing his role as Sheriff of Nottingham in a Robin Hood movie.

Ahh, Harry Potter, one of my other big loves of my life. <3
I got From Page To Screen [Bob McCabe] for my Birthday frommyself!
And I'm nearly half way through it now, and I just love it soo much!
It's a beautiful book, full with amazing pictures and facts about how the movie was made, a lot of things I never even knew before..
At first I thought the book might be a bit expensive, but as I thought and I was completely right, it was well worth my money. :D

J.K. Rowling to pen 'Fantastic Beasts' trilogy as 'Harry Potter' spin-off

USMagazine, Sunday, March 30, 2014, 10:35am (PDT)

Potterheads rejoice! J.K. Rowling is not only writing the screenplay for a film adaptation of her wizarding textbook "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", but she and Warner Brothers are turning the spin-off into a trilogy.

The New York Times reports that with the help of WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara, Rowling has agreed to writing three films, which will be set seven decades before the start of Harry Potter's story.

The films, which currently don't have any release dates or casting information, will follow magizoologist Newt Scamander, who is not directly linked to the Potter family, but rather a part of the wizarding world in general.

"'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the 'Harry Potter' series, but an extension of the wizarding world," J.K. wrote on her Facebook page in September. "The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the 'Harry Potter' books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway."

Better to have an actual "Harry Potter" than Hollywood trying to get something else to replace it, wether it's Narnia, Twilight or the "new" movie about vampires in a school that seems like Potter and Twilight together and the result is something ridiculous (perhaps even more than the second).

A little off topic, but notable.

'Harry Potter' actor Dave Legeno found dead in Death Valley

Dave Legeno, best known for playing werewolf Fenrir Greyback in the "Harry Potter" franchise, passed away while hiking in Death Valley, ET confirms. He was 50.

According to the Inyo County Sheriff's Dispatch, they received a notification this past Sunday, July 6, that a body was found by a two-person hiking group "in a remote wash" below Manly Beacon, west of Zabriskie Point in Death Valley.

The area was so remote that the Highway Patrol helicopter H-82 had to transport the body. The Sheriff's Dispatch says it appears Legeno died of heat-related issues, but the Inyo County Coroner will ultimately determine the final cause of death. There are no signs of foul play
