I'm buying a booster box soon, and I'm wondering which of these two to get. I DO NOT want to buy RR, because I'm sick of opening Rising Rivals packs and pulling horrible SP rares (Mr Mime, Yanmega, Vespiquen, etc.). Plus there is only a 33.3% chance of getting Luxray GL LV.X, which is the only card I really want in the set, and the rest of the rares, like I said, are bad (excluding Nidoqueen and Flygon) Heartgold Soulsilver has great T/S, Collector, Communication, DCE, as well as good Pokemon like Ninetails, Jumpluff, Donphan Prime. Yet on the other hand, Undaunted has brand new cards, but not many really good ones. The most it has is Vileplume, KGL, RDL, Umbreon, Leafeon, Scizor Prime, and Energy Exchange Unit. I'm also quite impatient to get a box, and I don't really want to wait a week for Undaunted, but I could if people think I should.... I really need help deciding! Please give an example of what you got in your HGSS box if you can!

UD. The cards are worth more right now, and then you can trade for everything else you need.
HGSS has more staples but UD will be "the new set" so the cards will be up in value at least for a little bit.
 
UD is a pretty bad set in my opinion. Yes, there are good cards in it, but the primes other than scizor aren't that good. The legends are cool, but too slow to be playable IMO. And the set is really tiny, which sucks.
 
At first when I saw this I thought HS Undaunted for sure, but now that I am thinking about it HGSS has Pokemon Communication, DCE, Donphan Prime, Pokemon Collector and such, I'd go with HGSS. Also as for other on your poll, Majestic Dawn is a great set as well.

Here's my personal suggestion; simply buy a Luxray GL Lv.X. You said that it's the only card you really need at the moment, unless you were referring to the set in general.
If you were, then just buy a Luxray GL Lv.X. Chances are it's going to cost less than a box.
If you weren't, get HGSS. There are simply better cards in there. And if you get a couple or few spares of the good T/T/S/S in there, then you can trade them off for any of the cards you want/need in Undaunted.
 
I voted for HGSS, and I think you should either get that or PL. SP stuff is great and highly desired
 
I say either UL or LA for other. If you WERE patient then wait till lost link comes out. Between the 2 you are chooses from I would say HGSS, better cards. But, I recomend UL, could Primes, really good legends(ERL$$$$), not too bad TSS, pretty good rares.

u are pretty much guaranteed to get almost all those cards in a hgss booster box, which you can then easily trade for the few useable cards in UD
also, u can sell the other holos, primes and legends
 
Id go for HGSS. The cards are better, and the chance of getting those cards is better. Go for HGSS.
 
I would buy Platinum because of the sp cards, or you can get HGSS for reasons already stated. But whatever you do, don't get Undaunted it is a set of a bunch of overrated cards except for a few.
 
With the HGSS box I won from Regionals I got some really good stuff. Alot of staple stuff like DCE (7 I think) 12 Pokemon Collector and a good bit of Communications. I got all the primes along with alot of trade bait. Compared to UD where there arn't realy any staple trainers compared to the 3 (Counting DCE) and only one semi-Legit prime in Scizor you really have to go for HGSS as it has 2 really useable primes in Typho and Phan along with Jumpluff.
 
HGSS is most likely the better bet.

Better staples and trainers/supporters. (Double Colourless as well.)

I didn't find anything useful for me aside from one of the Legends, which I don't play anyways.

My vote: HGSS
 
Depends on what you wanna run. I'm thinking Eeveelutions or Scizor so I chose UD. However, I already have those staples in GS. If you're starting out, go HGSS for sure.
 
It kind of depends on what you need.

SF, LA, and PT are definitely the best legal sets.

Out of the HGSS block I'd definitely go for HGSS base set. DCE, Communication, Collector, etc. are all amazing cards that are going to shape MD-on.
 
My fav. set is Supreme Victors. I love the set so much bc (off topic for a sec.) I pulled a Milotic shiny and Moltres in the same pack <333
 
I think the Undaunted because there are some new Trainers, Supporters and Stadium cards that are useful. Using "Ruins of Alph" (stadium card) is great to avoid resistance from the opponent if you are ready for a "Knock Out". It could then be replaced with the Stadium card "Burned Tower" to possibly get "Energy" from your discard pile. Supporter, "Flower Shop Lady" is great for retrieving 6 cards from your discard pile! "Team Rockets Trickery" is good for you to collect 2 cards and the opponent to discard a card.

Also there are some good "prime" cards such as Umbreon, and "Houndoom"! (Hp is not so high though....)
 
Most people here who have commented have came from the view of a tcg player, well I'm going to give you a collector's view.

I would choose Undaunted. The best time to buy a box of a set is when it comes out. All boxes when they come out are around $80-$90, and that's usually the cheapest they'll be. But if you just playing the tcg, then I'll choose the base set. It has better cards then Undaunted right now.
