Heatmor - The Answer to Durant?

My general thoughts about the creation of this card.

Mickey Mouse represents people who play Pokemon to have fun.
The Ape is Pokemon.

This card is stupid. Cards that are made top-down like this one to serve one purpose just bother me. Durant shouldn't be much of a problem... just do consistent damage. If it is that big of a deal for you, play this dude, but eh. It shouldn't be necessary... it is a narrow answer to an uncommon problem.

This card means nothing. Nobody will actually sacrifice deck space to combat a deck that hardly anyone brings to tournaments. I guess some people will play it, then people playing Durant will give up on the deck because they're afraid they'll stumble across someone with this, and soon enough noone will be playing either of the cards.

Well, I know France will be running this card.:p

It is kinda unfortunate though, cause Durant, annoying as it was, was a nice rogue, and at least brought something new to the format. I don't think Durant will stop seeing play, because as minimidget noted, when Durant's hype burns out, people will stop teching against it. It makes Durant a good random threat, but the problem is that players much smarter than me can counter Durant no problem, as was noted earlier, and in Juniors/Seniors, everyone will probably run a Heatmor tech.

Poor Durant. The card is kind of hilarious though.

I play Pokemon to have fun.
My decks still beat Meta
I don't even run Meta.
Sorry to say, but Pokemon was meant for fun.
Mickey is the people who play to win.
The ape is those who actually like Pokemon for fun, and those who enjoy everything about it.

Now, onto the subject, I like the artwork, but it's effect would have been more useful if it targeted grass and steel types. Kind of sad when cards get printed with stupid requirements or energy costs -cough-thenewlegendarybirds-cough- Though Zapdos I can see doing OKAYYYYY with Fliptini.

A good durant counter would be against ones that abuse defender, rocky helmet, and eviolite. Mix plus power in with a Heatmor from Noble Victories and watch the ants melt as they come out their hill.

But, your two examples were {C}{C}{C} for 90 against an unplayable card, and {D}{D}{D} for 100 against an okay card. Nothing copared to {C} for 60 against aa very playable card.

I don't think you understood the humor at all.

I can't believe this thread actually got 30 replies. I thought it was going to be locked. Nobody is ever going to use this card. Ever. This was just for the lol that they actually brought this "mechanic" back.

Pokemon is just a giant troll. First the new Luxray imitating Luxray GL X with "flash impact" and now this.

Uh.....It takes up 1 card....

To be fair, I think that you would want to play at least 2, because if they discard your only Heatmor T1 or if it is prized, you are counterless. Then you would actually have to rely on play skills. Man. I still think it is worth the space, until Durant dies at least.

You would play one Heatmor, but that's a crappy, dead card outsize of that matchup. People could run Unown Cure now, but they don't.

I didn't think it would be any good, but great players like Ness and Ignatius are playing it now. I just might have to consider this thing. T_T

Just because it seems silly, that doesn't mean that you should shortchange Durant. It is definitely a threat, and a legitimate and very scary deck. If not having a huge weakness to the Metal Ant is as simple as teching a single pokemon with an attack that KOs it for {C}

I think its a worthwhile card, and depending on the deck, could find a place in many of my lists for the next format.

I hate durant. Its a stupid, cheap, non-fun way to win (or lose)

I'm glad the counter at least makes sense. "Ant eater eats ant. Your turn."

Yes, Durant is always a stupid way to win, although you have just as likely of a chance to lose to durant as you do to any other deck. If it was broken like lost world was assumed to be, it would be a bad way to win and would ruin the object of the game. It's just another deck that is OK, but doesn't need a one-card-counter.

Durant is not a stupid way to win. It is as smart a way to win as any other deck. Just because you lose to it doesn't mean it's stupid.

The deck runs 1 pokemon. If that isn't trite, I don't know what is.
