Help Help Identifying a Card (Possible Fake?)

Hey guys!

I picked up some cards from a thrift shop today and i found this Nidoking card, but cant seem to find any info about it with this type of holo coating. I guess it might be a fake, but ive heard about some vending machine type of cards that had this type of holo to them? The surface is kind of glossy

Anyone who could help identify this? =)

Definitely a fake, there's a small part of the card at the bottom that looks REALLY off compared to the border. Also, the holo effect on the pictured card is from normal Base Set holos AND the style (holo effect covering the entire card) wasn't implemented until Legendary Collection.

Misprints like that can happen, but there are other indicators as you pointed out! You can actually see the normal Base Set Holo covering the art, underneath that holo that's covering everything. That's not how holos work, so that's a big indicator. Another check would be to look at the side of the card in good light, and if you can't see a very thin black line between the pieces of card, then you've very likely got a fake on your hands.
