So? I'm 11 and got a box. All you need to do is save money. I saved for a whole year before I got my DF box.
If you didin't know it's that expensive, just caculate 36 booster times RM12. You get 400 over bucks.
PS, after the DF box, my dad actually encouraged me to buy boxes instead of single packs...

Me and my friend have gotten extremely lucky. Actually at my league what we do is win packs from playing, and sometimes bet packs on matches that we play. My friend and I have gotten several exs through those packs, as well as the fact that i've pulled two LM mew EX and sold/ traded for what we needed. My advice: Luck is the only factor here, trade if you need something. My friend and I got 50 packs and pulled 3 exs just recently. Luckiyl I didn't buy. :p

Wait a second, there are plenty of non-ex cards that are great in decks. What cards do you have?

Yes, maybe we could help you work something out.

If you cannot get the money for a box then why don't you try ebay? Sometimes even then they are still expensive though. The only problem is that you get the odd con artist. A majority of the sellers are really good though. I know you are too young for an ebay acount but maybe you know somebody who has one? Otherwise I am afraid you will have to save up.
I noticed that sometimes the boosters in the bottom of boxes have the EX cards too. Though it is actually down to luck.

I've been playing Pokemon TCG for a few years and a friend of mine just decided to get competetive. So he bought two pre-con dex to learn the basics, and 5 packs to start out. First two packs he opened where EXs, which is great but he's sorta gotten his hopes up for the future. I bought 8 packs at the time and got no EXs at all.

It's seriously all random, but I'd suggest not buying one pack at a time, buy 3 - 4. If you can, buy a tin. They're like 11 bucks and you get 4 packs and a promo EX, plus the fancy tin. The tin and EX alone are great and decent trading material, and you have a chance of getting better cards in the packs. I actually bought a tin while I happened to be near Target for the heck of it, and I pulled an EX (From the pack inside.) (Since I normally don't buy from there or Wal-Mart, what exactly are the opinions behind their packaged packs?)

The best is getting a Box every set or maybe every other set, or at least making it to every prerelease. Boxes are around the $65 - $80 range on eBay, and you can get cheaper EXs off eBay for trading material. If you at least get one box, you should have enough to keep you in circulation for awhile with what you pull to trade others, so that's perfectly fine. I suggest Dragon Frontiers so you can get what you want soon and keep it later for the modifed format.

If you're so worried about EXs in decks, you should know that EXs don't ALWAYS make the perfect deck. Exeggutor is great and is used in an incredibly strong deck that runs no EXs. A different friend of mine uses EXs as trading material for rares and trainers since he's not much of a collector and his decks run great. Kingler d is another example of a currently strong non-EX.

Anyways, hope that helps, and good luck ^^

hey when everyone said dont buy walmart packs thats where ive had my best luck. I got 2 df boosters right when they came out just for the heck of it and pulled Ray ex. I've also gotten alot of other exs from a few walmart packs. Although ive gotten a good amount from my local card shop ive also bought more there. I dont think it really matters. Oh yeah another note on walmart packs my friend just plays all his old cards and he bought 1 of those promo 3 booster packs, and he pulled a Venasaur ex.

I'm going to chime in on the big store sets too. We just got an Umberon ex in one this weekend. I got a Flygon d ex in one that came from either Target or Eckards two weeks ago.

i know what's the topic but you complain that your deck is not good without pokemon-ex, so maybe you can post your deck at the deck garage so that you can get some opinions, suggestion & ideas....
anyway it depends on luck to get a pokemon-ex in a booster pack....

lol, you'd look kinda suspicous bringing one of those into a store... or a card shop that gives the packs from behind the counter. "May I see about 20 packs?" "That will be..." "No, I don't want to buy them all, I want to weigh them!!" "Uhh..." *Pulls out scale* *o_O*

They might be slightly heavier but it is probably not a lot different. Also some would feel a bit embarrassed asking to weigh booster packs. I know I would!
