Yes, but AR isn't for everyone so you can't use it as a copout. Heck even I use AR to get legendary Pokemon in the same way you do, Scizorliscious, but at the same time I don't recommend it to every Tom, Dick, and Harry

If someone wants help, well, AR helps a lot. It's a very plausible solution to the OP's problem, and if he asks on a forum, he's probably fairly frustrated/desperate to catch the legendary.
