Standard Help with Umbreon GX / Gumshoos GX deck

So ever since Sun and Moon was released I've been lucky enough to have 5* Umbreon-GX cards, and as Darkness types and Umbreon specifically have always been my favourite Pokemon I decided to do everything I could to work a deck around him.

The premise of the deck is to take full advantage of Umbreon's Dark Call GX attack, so Gumshoos for his Search The Premise ability and Team Skull Grunt, Team Flare Grunt and Hammer's for energy reduction.

I've had mostly positive success with the deck (I've won 16 out of 20 games) and have won against all main meta-decks (some have been harder battles than others) but as I've only been playing TCG for the past 3 months I'm very open to suggestions.

Here's the decklist

I don't like team skull grunt or pokemon center lady that much, they can be pretty clunky.
I made a few other changes to make the deck more consistent.
I like a Flareon in there because it really helps with Lorantis matchups.

Do whatever you like but this is what I like!

I think that Raticate is a very good secondary attacker in Umbreon/Hammers decks because crunch enhances your energy disruption, lategame it can hit ridiculous numbers against special energy using decks and rattata's ability is really good for chewing off FFBs that put some big basics outside of Umbreon's 2HKO range.

Another card I like is Herdier for recycling hammers and vs seekers which further extends the amount of energy you can put into discard. I've had multiple games where I've managed to put every single energy of decks like darkrai turbo into discard between hammers, dark call, TSG/TFG and raticate crunches. Herdier also works well with devolution spray, which again increases how many hammers you get to flip. Another fun use of devolution spray is to deny your opponent a 2 prize KO by using it on a hurt Umbreon, between that play and Raticate it kind of lets you play this mostly 2 prize deck like a 1 prize deck.

Honestly, I've tried Gumshoos in Umbreon decks and didn't really find it that useful. I run 1 TSG in my list but I just use it blindly when I don't need any other supporters and they have a big hand. I've won games off of nailing a DCE in someone's hand.

I don't really like barbs in this deck, I think some float stones would serve you better here.

Two comments for your consideration:
  • Given that your deck is suppose to be disruptive, Delinquent would be another option to use to cripple your opponent at appropriate times. (+1 Delinquent; -1 Town Map - not critical)
  • Further, you could easily "play form behind" in the prize count (especially if your opponent has a good F Pokémon start) since the majority of your Basic Pokémon have relatively low HP. Ace Trainer could be quite useful to disrupt your opponent's hand. (+1 Ace Trainer; -1 N)
Why no Lysandre??

After a lot of testing, this deck works great!
I feel it partners well with Flareon and Gumshoos.
Maybe a third parallel city and maybe more bursting balloons.
I don't know why but they work extremely well with umbreon
