I'm not exactly sure where to put this post but here, =]

and yes, I'm like, really, really new at playing this game, lol.
i used to collect back in the day, but never played, ahah.

me and my friends started playing, and just casually....but i've wanted to know, are there different formats for this game?

like, compared to YuGiOh TCG, there are Traditional and Advanced formats,

in Naruto CCG, there are the Premier level events that take use of the Rogue List,

is there a list anywhere or different formats of this game, where certain cards aren't allowed?

what decks are pretty fair out there nowadays? like, what's good? are there certain staples that are needed ever?
we've been doing a bit of research, and have kinda just built our own decks...

- mine revolves Tyranitar [from StormFront]
- one that uses Gallade [that flips prizes] and Gardevoir [transfers Psychic energy around]
- Empoleon that Aqua Jets for 70 Damage and maybe 20 more damage
- Venusaurs that flip to do Status and also the new Supreme Victors one
- Magmortars [that does 20 damage per fire and heals itself when you attach]

i wanna try a Darkrai deck that uses the Level X one and also the Rising Rival one, can the Lv X be placed on the Darkrai G from Rising Rivals?

what are the usually fair to good decks to make out there? are there staples that we need? so far, i've gotten like....

- 2 Claydolls [that helps you draw]
- Trainers/Supporters like Celio's Networks, Rare Candies, BeBe's Search, Roseanne's Researches, Great Balls, Luxury Ball, Mr Stones Project.

also, another question, if my opponent uses like an Eevee that does sand attack, and i have to flip for my attack, can I retreat and still have to flip or no?

thanks!

The following sets are allowed:

Diamond and Pearl
Mysterious Treassures
Secret Wonders
Great Encounters
Majestic Dawn
Legends Awakened
Stormfront
Platinum
Rising Rivals
Supreme Victors
Arceus (After the release)
Pop 6, Pop 7, Pop 8 and Pop 9
All DP Promos

Popular nowadays are Gyarados, LuxApe, Gengar, Speedill, Flygon Variants and SP Variants. Also some rogue decks do pretty well.
No you can't put Darkrai Lv.X on the Darkrai G from Rising Rivals since the 'G' is a part of his name. Staples are Uxie, Claydol (Not in every deck), Roseanne's Research, Azelf and Unown G. Trainers and Supporters that do well are Luxury Ball, Bebe's Search and of course Cyrus' Conspiracy for SP decks. For more informations just read some decklists in our deck garage. For your last question if Eevee attacks you with Sand Attack you don't have to flip a coin if you retreat your active Pokémon, every effect on Pokémon (Like Sand Attack) gets lost if you either retreat, evolve or level up that Pokémon.

I hope I helped you!

I'd like to add that these are the sets allowed in Modified Format, which is used for sactioned tournaments (i.e. Battle Roads, Cities, States, etc.).

In Unlimited Format, you can use cards from any set.

Currently, the staple cards that everyone needs are in the league rotation cycle, with Uxie being the big deal right now, and Claydol the season after next. I also believe Roseannes Research will be in one of the seasons, and Bebes search can be found in like every set known to man. Roseannes Research, if you dont want to wait, is in the Cynthias Milotic deck from Supreme Victors, which is a decent starter deck for someone just getting in the game.

hey guys, thanks for your replies ^.^

SoulSeeker, you were a great, great help, thanks for all the information. since Darkrai G is with G in it though, does it mean, I can play, 2 Darkrai, 2 Darkrai Lv X, and then even 4 Darkrai G?

btw, so, the Speedrill deck, does that evolve that Beedrill that uses the one who can Poison and Paralyze in 1 go, then also searches for a grass pokemon? that card sounds pretty good, we wanted to try a deck with that, but would we probably have to devote the whole deck to it, or can it just be a side strategy? o_O

i'm guessing the Gyarados is with the one that does 30x the amount of Magikarp, correct? that also looks pretty viable, x)

i dunno what the LuxApe deck is, i may have to look around lol. we picked up though a Gengar for like $.10, it can knock out any pokemon if it gets knocked out and you coin flip right, as well has Shadow Room and Poltergeist, is this a crazy one? it looks kinda insane ahah ^.^

thanks Craig for your input, we're just casually playing, so actually some of our guys are using like other stuff, like early Charmanders, Energy Searches, etc ahah.

Seth, what's a league rotation cycle? we have some good supporters. i found Claydols for like, $.10 a piece, $1 for a foil, haha, so it was cool. are they legal? the ones that draw like heck, ahah. and then we also use Bebe Searches, Roseanne's Research, and Celios Networks. ! i've almost got 'em all, lol, 2x, 2x, and 3x haha.

i also have another question, when....someone puts their deck list up,

waht is like, 1-0-1 Blaziken, or something?
is that like, 1 Torchick, 0 Combusken, 1 Blaziken? thanks ahah x)

Yes you can, as the cards are considered to have a different name.

hey, thanks for the answer man. that sounds pretty cool then. i was a bit worried at first, haha.

but now, i can at least just decide which Darkrai I want to use under the Level X version...hmmmm??

btw, Unknown G stops effect of attacks, except damage, right?

so i was wondering, like, this really kickbutt Gallade that my friend uses, it does something like puts damage counters until I'm, like 50HP from dying or something, and then switches my pokemon out.

if i attached Unknown G to my Pokemon, does that attack then have like, no effect whatsoever? or does putting Damage counters count as damage? or is damage only when you're doing something with like, the set numbers on the side of attack effect text, x)

i know, i'm asking a lotta questions, ahah, but is it okay if i keep them in this thread of mines, or just keep posting new topics for like, search and more observability wise ahah

yes

yes, but it uses the other beedrill to attack, since it does 30x each beedrill in play

I'm guessing the Gyarados is with the one that does 30x the amount of Magikarp, correct? that also looks pretty viable, x)

yes

I dunno what the LuxApe deck is, I may have to look around lol. we picked up though a Gengar for like $.10, it can knock out any pokemon if it gets knocked out and you coin flip right, as well has Shadow Room and Poltergeist, is this a crazy one? it looks kinda insane ahah ^.^

i believe it's luxray GL and infernape, but i could be wrong about the luxray.
yes, that gengar is broken

thanks Craig for your input, we're just casually playing, so actually some of our guys are using like other stuff, like early Charmanders, Energy Searches, etc ahah.

uhhh, no question here

Seth, what's a league rotation cycle? we have some good supporters. basically, let's say only the latest 10 expansions are allowed, then, if they make another expansion, then you take the oldest one of the list of tournament playable. did you understood me?

I also have another question, when...someone puts their deck list up,

waht is like, 1-0-1 Blaziken, or something?
is that like, 1 Torchick, 0 Combusken, 1 Blaziken? thanks ahah x)

it is exactly that, those are run with rare candy, which allows you to put a stage 2 on a basic pokemon, without need of the stage 1

so I was wondering, like, this really kickbutt Gallade that my friend uses, it does something like puts damage counters until I'm, like 50HP from dying or something, and then switches my pokemon out.

if I attached Unknown G to my Pokemon, does that attack then have like, no effect whatsoever? or does putting Damage counters count as damage? or is damage only when you're doing something with like, the set numbers on the side of attack effect text, x)

putting damage counters is the effect of the attack, so unown G would prevent it, switching your pokemon is also an effect of the attack, so that would be cancelled too.

anything else still in your mind?

thanks a ton for your responses to pretty much everything i've asked, lol ^.^

oh wow, that Beedrill can seem pretty sick. lol. i mean, the deck in it's entirety. x) If I were to make it, would it go, like, 2 of the PokePower then 2 of the attacker ones? eh? sounds awesome actually.
and they have 1 to no retreat cost, that's pretty insane too, ahah =]

i understood you about the Rotations, ahah, thanks for that.

so the Unknown G must be pretty nifty, preventing such crazy things like that, ahah. and all other stuff, i can see why it is a staple, ahah, and i'm glad i grabbed a few ^.^

i, along with my casual friends, the like, 7 of us play casually here and there, and we are all complete newbies at the game, ahah,

but i've always been the one to be more, like, persistent about things and wanting to know more [reason as to why i'm here obviously x)], so my mind will always be boggled with questions, like a writer who runs into situations and thoughts again and again, keeping a notepad by side lol,
and such as now, lol

when a pokemon attacks with a Double Rainbow Energy, that does reduce any damage done to Bench pokemon by 10, also, right? x)

Yes, when you attack your opponent's benched Pokemon with a DRE (Double Rainbow Energy) attached to the attacking Pokemon, it does 10 less damage to your opponent's benched Pokemon. DRE says the it does 10 less damage to your opponent's Pokemon, not your opponent's active Pokemon.

It depends on your leauge what you can play. And in tournaments you may only use the DP- on cards. DRE is not in DP-on anymore.

Should help you with most of your questions.
Also 1-0-1 Blaziken would mean 1 Torchic, 0 Combuskin, 1 Blaziken. This would work because of a card Rare Candy. http://pokebeach.com/scans/great-encounters/102-rare-candy.jpg
It allows to skip stage one. Also lets say you play a Torchic from your hand this turn. You usually cannot evolve it, but with rare candy you can bypass that rule.
Almost all good decks with Stage 2s use it and sometimes even a deck without stage twos may use it. For further more with deck posting....

3-1-2/1 Gengar SF/AR That would mean..... 3 Gastly, 1 Haunter, 2 Gengar SF (Stormfront), 1 Gengar AR (Arceus. Its not out yet in all places but Japan). When posting the set is very important because people need to know which one you are using. Also one haunter is okay to have, as you probably will have 4 rare candy (The most you can have in a deck) and you use the haunter as backup.

Another thing.... The main reason people play unown G.
http://pokebeach.com/tcg/stormfront/scans
(Go down to number 18 Gengar and click.)

Do you see that first attack? Read it carefully. Now read Unown G. Okay Shadow Room says put 6 damage counters on a pokemon that has a pokepower. Lets say it targeted.... another Gengar SF! But lets see. This one has a Unown G on it! Now lets see unown G. It says it prevents everything except damage. Shadow Room would do nothing!!!!! Why? Shadow Room says put six damage COUNTERS. Thats not damage. Its different! Just an example of one of the many wierd rules of pokemon.

ahhh, i'm almost necromancing a thread in a way, aren't i? lol.

thanks a lot for the responses! man i haven't been here in a while, darn it so busy x)

that Gengar is nasty! I had found one for like a quarter at this store, and wanted more
because it seemed really good, ahah ^.^

This court finds you guilty of necromancy and sentences you to a warning

There's no need for you to post in a long dead thread thanking people for your help.

lol, thanks. =]

and it was for their help =)

btw, should I post a new thread then if I have other questions?? and let this one die??
but then again, it is already back up here xD

Make a new thread. Nice job on the lockage PMJ.

dmaster out.
