Strategy:

Okay, this is stupid, I know. The idea is to return shaymin into your deck, while drawing cards and moving quickly. Full line of bikes and skates. Wailord to buffer and max potion to recycle that which has been buffered. Robosubs to buffer as well. I'd like to make some room for an enhanced hammer or two, so i was thinking about pulling a float stone maybe? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I assume your main damage output is virbank and hypnotic laser? I know that has worked well with seismitoad but i'm not sure how viable it is as your main source of damage when your only real attacker (Shaymin) is only out for 1 attack then gone. An enemy EX is gonna take down Wailord before you can take them out as you are gonna have to be using so many resources to do more than just poison every turn.

I guess maybe revives would be useful in this deck for keeping warlords around maybe? 1 or 2.

How about using Suicune for EXs? or maybe Aegislash EX for Special Energy decks, like Toad, Fightings, Fairies etc?

I hope that resources aren't a concern, because I'm drawing so many cards through supporters as well as bikes, roller skates, and shaymin EX. I should be able to get them up quickly enough, and then wall with wailord's 250. Very few cards can OHKO that kind of math. And those that can, will find themselves badly hurt by the quickslinging hammers.

I feel like this deck list hasn't really been thought out well. You've just plonked in four of what you consider 'good' cards, without any thought of quantity. Also, why are you adding extra draw in a Shaymin deck!? You want to draw with Shaymin when you have a low amount of cards. Not draw one or two cards with Shaymin since you've used draw item to draw. You'll also get avoidably locked by Seismitoad...

Also, ah, why haven't you thought of other possible U-turn (basically what this deck is) walls? I'm thinking of Sigilyph, Suicune, Pyroar (maybe), Wobuffet PHF (maybe) Aegislash-EX and Outrage Dragons (Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem). You could even try running something like Trevenant XY, Bats or Slurpuff PHF for item lock/extra damage/draw, although these will really change the type of deck you originally planned for. You also want to limit starting with Shaymin as much as possible, so more basics would be beneficial.

I'd also imagine what you want to do with this deck is draw extremely quickly and burn through resources, and then Trump Card everything back into your deck.

Finally, I can see this deck really falls to VirGen. With G-Booster, every card in your deck will die pitifully.

-1 N (You don't need 3 with your amount of draw)
-1 Virbank City Gym (You draw through your deck super fast, you won't need 4. Plus, many decks already play this; you don't need 4. I'd even suggest 2)
-4 Bicycle (Come on, you've got enough draw for this type of deck)
-4 Roller Skates (^)
-1 Max Potion (IDK, do you /really/ need 4?)
-1 Float Stone (You do not need 4, and you may not even need 3)
-1 Switch (Talk about extreme switching .--.)
-1 Crushing Hammer (For room for Team Flare Grunt)
-2 Psychic (If you're going to put in an energy type put in something that you can take advantage with)

+1 VS Seeker (Consistency)
+2 Muscle Band (For Shaymin-EX)
+2 Sigilyph LT (Safeguard wall)
+1 Aegislash-EX (Special wall)
+1 Zekrom/Reshiram/Kyurem (Another good damage hitter, especially for Yveltal or VirGen or Lando or Donphan matchups)
+2 Enhanced Hammer/Head Ringer (Disruption and Disruption, although the latter can be used to block Megas from evolving or Genesect from getting a G-Booster)
+1 Lysandre (Good card)
+1 Teammates (Great card in combo with Robo Sub)
+2 Skyla (Great card in this deck)
+1 Team Flare Grunt (Since you've got extra draw, this would work well; also gets around Toad)
+2 Metal Energy (Useful against Steel Shelter as well as for Aegislash-EX; could also run Fairy for Fairy Garden or Dark for Dark Circle)

Other good additions:

Mr Mime PLS (I think that's the code; to prevent snipe from Bats or Lando)
Startling Megaphone (A way to remove G Booster or Garbodor's Tools)

^ Hey, now, don't be too harsh. VirGen might not even be played this next set with all the HypeQuaza that's going to be running around.

The idea is crazy draw, and ive got laserbank for other walls.

I'm all in favor of dropping the N, but I fear that skyla would slow this down.

If anything, I want to add more disruption items to draw into so quickly.

And as for the shortcomings and glaring holes, I don't really care. If I am going to compete for real I'll play a toad deck or an yveltal deck, or even a mega gardevoir deck. This is just for fun really.

Well... Shaymin-EX will provide huge draw, so I would take the opportunity to use a few more supportive supporters. But other than that, I do see your point about it being a fun deck :) I for one try and make decks competitively viable, and I should know how people have different purposes, so quite obviously my ignorance was completely unnecessary and I apologise about that.

If you want more draw, try out Acro Bike (I think this is better than Bicycle and Skates in most decks!) and Trainer's Mail. I also recommend trying out Slurpuff/Electrode for even more.

Even if it is supposed to be a fun deck, I don't think that's a good reason to not try to improve upon the deck list. I think you could make it semi playable by taking out 1-2 Max Potion and Roller Skates for Sigilyph, maybe a Wobbuffet or two, and some of those disruption items you were talking about. And of course, consider some of the bbninjas's suggestions; that would be a good place to start.

I also worry that using Sky Return late game makes you vulnerable to N. An Electrode might be good to have sitting on the Bench. Something else to think about.

I play Gengar EX/Wailord EX, and I have found the value of max potions cannot be understated. I cannot pull those, but I decided I could pull 2 float stones, 1 switch, and all of the N's. I added 2 enhanced hammers, 1 lysandre, and 2 head ringers. I feel however, that the lack of N's is hurting my disruption. As of right now all I'm messing with is energies and prize denial. I think it weakens my strategy if I allow them to hold a hand and plan out counters. I don't know though.

Because Shaymin provides so much draw as it is, you don't likely need many draw supporters (as others have suggested). This leaves a lot of room for cards like Team Flare Grunt and Xerosic for disruption (probably should play Enhanced Hammer too), and in case you are under Item Lock, AZ will act nicely as a Max Potion and Switch when Float Stone isn't playable. Definitely could be a fun (for you, because it'll be very annoying and not particularly competitive lol) deck to play at League.

Yeah I would definitely keep at least three N's. You need them for that very reason.

Actually, as crazy as this is, what if I were to pull the sycamore and accept that toad is a loss no matter what. Then I could run 4 N's. How bad is that?

I imagine you still want Sycamore. It's still the best draw Supporter in format; it's both powerful draw, and consistent. Actually, now that I think about it, every time you use Sky Return, you're putting Shaymin back into your hand to use again next turn. I think you should completely cut the Bicycles and Roller Skates.

  • 4 Shaymin EX
  • 4 Professor Sycamore
  • 3 N
  • 4 VS Seeker
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 1 Computer Search
I think that would be plenty consistent. You are relying a bit on Items though, which could be a problem against Seismitoad. I was thinking that would be fine because Shaymin hits Seismitoad for Weakness, but then I remembered for like the 10th time that it's Colorless, not Grass :p But really, I think it should be fine. Again, every turn you use Sky Return, you're putting Shaymin back into your hand, so you might still have consistent access to draw under Item lock. You should play a few games with this against Toad if you haven't already.
