Ho-Oh EX Deck

To be completely honest, ever since nationals I've been freaking out because I can't find a good deck to play. I don't want to play garchomp because anything with max potion kills it, and if you don't get t2 gabite or garchomp you lose. I don't want to buy darkrais for hydreigon b4 the tins come out since darkrai will drop, and I'm not to fond of the deck because I can't really figure out the perfect list. I want to play garbador/terrakion but tool scrapper kills it and decks can get around abililock. I wanted to play accelgor but again I don't want to buy darkrais and mews. I don't want to play zekeels because frankly I think its boring. So I remembered back when we found out the japanese nationals results and remembered a ho-oh tornadus deck and I thought I'd try it out. My first list was pretty much a fail, but this list has gotten quite a few t1s and stayed in the game when it didn't. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo here is the list.

3 HO-OH EX
2 Mewtwo EX
3 Tornadus EX
2 Terrakion

4 Random Reciever
3 SAB
4 Juniper
4 N
4 NRG Switch
4 Catcher
4 Ultra Ball
4 Switch

3{C}{C}
2{P}
4{F}
2{D}
2{W}
1{R}
2{G}
2{L}
1{M}

Strategy: The strategy is to try and donk. You get ho-oh in the discard with energies via ultra ball and juniper, use its ability to get it out of discard with up to 3 energy, use energy switch or switch to attack with ho-oh or other attacker.

All suggestions are appreciated.

RE: HO-OH EX DONK

I would take out the Mew EX and a Bianca for 2 Random Receivers. Mew dies too easily and with it goes 2 Prizes. And 3 Bianca's sounds like plenty.

RE: HO-OH EX DONK

I might take out 1 bianca for 1 reciever just cuz but I would totally agree with your mew statement but it just won me a game because I was able to copy a shaymin ex for the game because playtcg.me dice kept giving me tails when I coulve donked

How does Tool Scrapper kill it? It just puts it back a little that's all. The deck is designed to have several Tool cards anyway, Rescue Scarf being one to keep the Ability lock going.

As far the "Donk" deck goes, I don't believe donking exists unless it happens of its own accord. You'd be better building it to survive in the late game whilst setting up in the early IMO.

RE: HO-OH EX DONK

@PokeCastXVII Although this deck does sometimes donk it is a list that can last late game, but I would like to figure out how to make last and be a little more consistant. This exact list has lost 1/10 times if I remember correctly and when it lost then 6 of my pokemon were prized and I still got down to my last prize. Here are my battle results.
2-1 vs Rakou Eels
2-0 vs Garchomp
2-0 vs Hydreigon
1-0 vs Klinklang
2-0 vs Empoleon Terrakion

Made some minor changes
-1 Bianca
-1 Mew Ex
+2 Random Reciever
I would like t add in another switch

RE: HO-OH EX DONK

I've seen a Japanese list that utilized the new Rufflet (searches out 2 Ho-Oh essentially) as a starter. I recommend trying it out because you can attach T1, grab the Ho-Oh without much effort and the next turn you can use Ultra Ball+Juniper to get Ho-Oh and some Energies in the discard. Just an idea, not sure what I would cut from your list per say.

dmaster out.

RE: HO-OH EX DONK

I changed theenergy line around a bit and took out a bianca for another random reciever migtke one of those out to put mew back in.

RE: HO-OH EX DONK

Your energy line is really whack. It'd probably better if you shifted your energy line more towards techs for other decks. Rayquaza is a pretty great tech to deal with dragons. Lots can be done about the list, including dropping tool scraper. It doesn't do much for the deck and the "i dont want autolose to garbador" argument is not even a real argument. More times than not you can outplay and play around the Garbador until you have the resources to kill it.

Playing consistently I think is the way forward. In a format with no Fast Ticket or Seeker, I don't believe donking is possible unless there's bad luck on your opponents behalf. Remembering you also have to put it down to a coin flip, decreasing your chances to at least 50%.

dmaster brings up a good point with Rufflet. I would try and build around that, and add more support towards Ho-Oh.

^This. It's working great for me. Easy t1 rainbow burn, consistent, braviary is great against sigyliph, it doesn't fall apart late game at all, rather it gets stronger. Only problem is mid-game opponent's N, which is pretty much disrupting..

I thought that that list was good but I lost about 5 games with it out of 6 it set up ok it just fell apart mid to late game if they have a mewtwo
