Hey everybody, New to the Pokemon TCG community but not new to TCG in general. I've been playing for about 2 weeks. I've played competitive MTG and Yugioh for a while now. I stopped playing yugioh a few years ago a little bit after exceeds were introduced and I still play magic regularly but my friends have recently picked up Pokemon and so did I.

I know what's competitive and have been playing different Vespiquen Variations to some decent success but recently I've felt the need to try and brew something up myself. I've always really liked Pidgeot so when my friend got a full art Pidgeot EX I was ecstatic looking at its art and then thinking of the possibilities. I did a little research and found out it does a pretty good job being a tanky Frontline with Max potions and the like but needs energy consistency to achieve good results or usually a sub attacker or burst balloons if it's by itself. In comes Lunala GX! A fantastic new card from Sun and Moon that's still looking for a solid home.

Lunala's ability plays especially well with Pidgeot as you can move any energy off of it and then max potions then move them back to attack so you waste very little energy.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. This is a very rough draft for a deck. I have most of the cards and have proxies some of what I don't have. Testing it soon but figured I'd share it if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for improvements I'd be happy to take them.

some thoughts I've had are puzzle time and other ways to reuse the trainers, possibly cutting back on sycamore to not waste my max potions, and other forms of healing but this is where I am right now.

This is a deck I was going to make depending on what the rotation would be but I wanted to make this build first. I think you can take out a Cosmog and Lunala. If you must leave them in, at least put one Solgaleo-GX in so you can retreat at will. The list looks alright but you should make some room for Float Stone because 170 HP isn't a good number nowadays.

I have a pair of Floatstone to start do you think I need to go up in number? Are you suggesting a 3-2-3 line for the Lunala's? I can see that and will definitely try it out. Do you think lowering that number is better than playing the Sol Galeon?

I was also considering Assault Vest or Bursting Balloon as other tool options that might be nice.

My friends also threw around some ideas that Tauros GX might be helpful as well in a similar manner maybe as a 1 of but I'm not convinced.

Its hard to say because you can't really run Pidgeot-EX the same way you would run another deck. It requires more specialized cards to work the way it needs to. Fighting Fury Belt gives it +40 HP, putting it a 210, which is a lot harder to take down in a single hit, letting you use Max Potion more effectively. Since you're already running Lunala-GX, having a tech Solgaleo-GX is a great option since they are both on the same evolution line, meaning you won't really need Float Stone, though its up to you to include it if you wish. Assault Vest used to work with Pidgeot but the meta went to damage scaling decks and most of the time, the Pokemon hitting you doesn't have special Energy attached to it so it will be a dead draw in most cases. It still has its uses but you would much rather have a FFB than Assault Vest on Pidgeot.

I think you should be running Silent Lab though but this build is hard to really say what it needs since my Pidgeot deck is more conservative in nature. I don't like Tauros-GX with Pidgeot because it requires Ninja Boy and the general idea behind Pidgeot is to take a hit and then drop a Max Potion and Tauros-GX is counter productive to that because if you have to give it two Prize cards, then you're better off doing it with a Pidgeot since if anything will KO a Pidgeot in one hit, it'll more than likely do the same to a Tauros. Its just more cards to baby sit. However, you can add a Mewtwo-EX to the deck, the one with Scatter Shot since that too can take some clutch Prize cards.
