How did you get stuck in the TCG?

One day, about 7 years ago, I found a Water Energy card in some bushes behind a bus stop. The only thing that told me that it was from Pokemon was the back. I kept it, then I saw cards only a few times until one day when my family drove down to Buffalo. I saw 2 Gardevoir decks for sale, my brother and I both bought one. I've been playing the card game ever since, but I've since lost the Water Energy.

My sister had started to watch the show so I watched with her and devoleped a liking and new there were cards so I bought some cards. There is my simple story.

I met some friends who asked me if I collected Pokemon cards. I said no and they gave me about 60 of them. I organized them by Retreat Cost (XD) and eventually got into them. Then, I found out about all of the features of the cards (HP, attacks, energy cost, etc.) Then, I found a book in it that had an advertisement about Pokemon Leagues. I got into contact with a leauge leader, he taught me how to build good decks, then 4 years later, here I am. Stuck forever in the TCG.

500th post!

Meh... I started because I was a little kid, and anything pokemon was "cool".
I've played as a hobby for a long while. I also played, yugioh, naruto, and zatch bell (still best card game ever). As naruto, and zatch bell died out (emo tear), I figured I'd have to get really competative in one game. I pooled up my money, and figureed pokemon would be better on my wallet than yugioh. So here I am... today... 21st in world, and still working hard.
I am by no means "stuck". I am planning to leave the competative mindset next season. I dunno... every year a little bit inside of me dies (first metanite, and then DRE).

last time i play YuGiOh but in malaysia, i hardly find the tournament of yugioh. so, thats why i play pokemon because there are many tournament of pokemon.

My oldest son wanted to buy some cards just after the beginning of this latest school year; the kids all trade them on the bus and he wanted in on the gig. I looked into it a bit on line and learned the best way to start would be to buy a theme deck. He bought one and so did I so we could play and learn the rules together; I did not want him just collecting them and not enjoying them to their full potential - I also did not want him getting ripped off trading on the bus, I wanted him to know what made a card good and which ones were good. So with the decks we started playing, then I oldest daughter wanted to play; she used my deck then bought her own. My son's birthday was coming up and he wanted to have a Pokemon tournament – so we picked up theme decks for each of the friends he invited (this was crazy – 8 kids, most 6 or 7 with no clue what to do). My son loved it – and we just got deeper and deeper into it. I find it good for them and quite enjoy it myself. Now it’s been about 3 months and we have accrued over 1500 cards and counting, and we still have yet to pull a claydol or a rare candy…

I have been playing off and on. I started around jungle time bought cards got into it heavy into team rocket i almost completed the set by pulling from packs (i never got dark dugtrio dark riachu and dark gloom >>).
Then i quit around the second neo set. I still liked it but no one to play and i did not have internet at time so i did not know about leagues. I still was interested but never played.

Then around team rocket returns/leaf green i got back into when some people at the swat meet played (we played yu-gi-oh! there and we started playing Pokemon on the side). I played with my dark steelix+Dark Tyrantiar deck. Then they stopped so i did to again i was now smart enough to look up tourneys but i never did.

Then about 4 mouths ago i decided to look into but look up tourneys then i found a league at my card shop (i play yugioh on Sundays, but otherwise i don't go there). I went there to get back in the game. And the rest is me playing when i can (i cant go to league i work on Tuesdays :().

I built emp/zong because i love dual splash :). Then i got first in a win-a-box tournament then the rest is history...

I know the game since the first set, I played the Pokemon TCG Game for the ancient Game Boy, the big grey one xD
Until ex Deoxys I didn't really played the game, but with ex Deoxys/later Set's I started playing it, but at the beginning I was pretty bad xD
Now I'm better :p
