How do you know when a set will be rotated out?

Is it the last 4 sets that were released? I still don't really understand set rotations.

Will platinum be rotated out :[?
 
no..its usually selected by tpci...no prior information is obtainable and there really isnt a pattern...expecially in the last couple of years....we can only speculate.
 
It's always the last [insert number here] sets. Platinum is going to be rotated, no doubt about that. We will most likely have a HGSS-on format, though it is unknown at this time.
 
Don't say things that you don't know are true. We could very well have Platinum next format. We will have no idea until they announce it. There is nothing more to be said in this thread.
 
They always want nine sets to start off a year. If they rotate up to Platinum, but don't rotate the set itself, then we'll still have eleven sets, which is far too many in my opinion. Your opinion is different, and I respect that, but please don't say that I don't know what I'm talking about.

WOOHOO, SELF-CONTRADICTION!
But I believe it will be RR-On because the second quote is true to some extent.
No way to know for sure until it's announced or it happens, though.
 
Usually what will happen is a set will stay two years in the Modified Format before being rotated out, and we standardly have 9 sets at the start of the rotation. This makes Rising Rivals-on the most likely rotation at this point in time.

That's usually what you can predict with a high degree of accuracy. I personally am vouching for a rotation newer than that, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.
 
None really knows it is just weather or not they want to. Last time when they didn't take out GE down it was a big suprise to most people but I do think that the change will be big, due to the fact that people hate this format right now
