How does a Sandstorm team work in this metagame?

Metagross has sadly fallen a lot in Generation V, its just not very good at all any more. It also doesn't have any synergy with your team (aside from not taking Sandstorm damage, but plenty of mons do that and its not even an essential quality for Pokemon on your team) and doesn't resist your major weaknesses, fighting and water, and it adds another ground weakness to Tyranitar, Excadrill, and Lucario, and since Earthquake is one of the most common coverage moves in the game, that's pretty bad. Rotom-W could work, but note that it and Jellicent fill very similar spots on your team (bulky waters to cover resistances) with Rotom-W being immune to Ground and Jellicent being immune to Fighting. Two waters on a team isn't necessarily all that bad, but beware of the Grass weakness you're forming even if not very many Pokemon use it-Venusaur is a real threat.

you could take Lucario out for Stoutland, Sand Rush makes that thing beast, and it outruns a lot of Scarf users.

With what you guys have said included, I was wondering what you guys think about this build so far. Tyranitar, Excadrill, Lucario, Garchomp, Rotom-W. The last poke is still undecided in my head at this point.

And honestly, the reason for not removing Lucario is just a personal attachment. Im just loyal to it (Even have it Shiny and fully trained already)

Just an update, I've offically completed the training on my Tyranitar, Excadrill, Lucario, and Rotom-W. Still working on getting my Garchomp trained as well as finding a final pokemon to round out the team

Tyranitar, Excadrill, Lucario, Rotom-W, Garchomp, Stoutland. That is the build I am currently working with. Can anyone suggest any improvements to the team?

Technician Breloom wrecks you. After a Swords Dance, it can swiftly deal with the majority of your team. Physically Defensive walls in general a bit hard for your team to manage, as Rotom-W is fairly easily countered and worn down with both your own Sand, entry hazards, and any other moves it has to take. I'd say replace either Lucario or Garchomp with Offensive Tank Latias. She can take on these physical walls and be a major offensive prescence with a STAB Draco Meteor.

Well, I've seen about 10 different suggestions for great team members on a sandstorm team involving removing Lucario. I know you've grown personal to it, but it just isn't that great. I've experimented with sandstorm teams, and Lucario just isn't what you want on it. I'd try something like:
Specially Defensive Tyranitar
Speed Band Terrakion
Life Orb Scizor
Thundurus I- Yache (For Taunt, Thunderbolt, and grass knot)
Jellicent (who can also serve as a decoy for dark moves to boost Terrakion.)
Latias (Tank, takes water moves like a boss, and can change the weather back from rain, free health with healing wish)

Or take out Terrakion for Landorus T - Free intimidate cut is always welcome, really high attack power, and keeps a strong essence on sandstorm teams

Seeing as I have Black 2, I dont have a Latias atm, will Latios serve as a decent replacement in the mean time? and I figure I can replace Lucario with my Scizor and use Scizor as a scout as well.

I was thinking Tyranitar, Scizor, Latios, Rotom-W, Stoutland, Excadril as my reworked build for the team

All your guys, - Latios, is weak to fighting. Hitmontop single handedly could wreck your whole team listed. Close Combat, Mach Punch, Sucker Punch, and Stone Edge has your team covered. If rethink stout land and Rotom.

I have changed my Sandstorm build to Tyranitar, Scizor, Excadril, Garchomp, Rotom-W, and Latios. Tyranitar sets up my weather after some scouting with Scizor. Excadril greatly benefits from the sand with its ability, same with Garchomp, along with the fact that they are both great sweepers for me. Rotom-W is serving as my bulky water type that allows me to deal with some of my weaknesses as well as Latios helping Rotom with this same issue. Anymore feedback is welcome and I am open to moving some of the pokes around if it will help better my team.

I'll be honest, I like this team a lot better than your Drought team :p you have good synergy, good type coverage, and good offensive diversity. I would rather you use LO Tank Latias, but if you can't find one than latios can work okay. I'd just run a bulkier set on Latios, maybe even the exact same moveset as LO tank Latias. This is a really good team, I may start an alt and test it out.

Yeah, this is shaping up to be a great team. I'll echo Chillarmy and say that Latias would be a great fit instead of Latios. Its bulk goes a long way in beating Keldeo, Breloom and Rotom-W, three massive threats to sand teams (Breloom thrashes Excadrill with Mach Punch, so having a way to beat it is essential).

I am trying to get my Latios switched out for a Latias. All I need now is the moveset and nature/EV spread for the LO Tank Latias and my sandstorm team should be complete really

I believe the team I'm looking at will be Scizor, Tyranitar, Excadril, Rotom-W, Garchomp, and Latias in the end

I took my Sandstorm team into battle today. Scizor, Tyranitar, excadril, Rotom-W, Garchomp, and Latios (Cant seem to get Latias yet). I won and did pretty well over all. The team has at least 1 poke to deal with any type attack and each Pokemon that is damaged by a specific type has at least 1 move to deal with the Pokemon that would be carrying that move. Im liking it very much overall right now. Thanks for all the help building guys.

Name: Life Orb Tank
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Surf
move 3: Recover
move 4: Hidden Power Fire / Refresh
item: Life Orb
nature: Modest
evs: 152 HP / 176 SpA / 180 Spe

This is the standard moveset. If you feel like you are having problems with Keldeo or Terrakion you can use Psyshock over HP Fire/Refresh as well.

I would like to suggest two things to Chillarmy's set. The first is maximum speed investment, cutting into the HP EVs. Latias hits a great speed tier, and it cannot afford to let it go to waste and be outsped by Keldeo or Terrakion. I would also suggest against Hidden Power Fire and fully recommend Psyshock as a way to beat Calm Mind Keldeo variants, as well as to remove the need for imperfect speed IVs (plus it's a pain to get a specific Hidden Power type on a cartridge, which it sounds like you're doing).

Latios @ Life Orb
Levitate
Timid 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 SpD
-Dragon Pulse
-Surf
-Hidden Power Fire
-Psyshock

There is the Latios I turned up with. My team now is finally looking to be built until I randomly get my hands on Latias to replace it
