Hello everyone! New player here.

Have been playing with my son and we have a card dispute that needs to be settled.

He likes to play Regigigas and use the Gigaton Punch. On the card, it says, "Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 60 damage plus 20 more damage and does 20 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon."

My son seems to think that if he flips the coin and gets tails, he still gets to do 60 damage. I disagree. Which one of us is correct on how this card's attack is played?

Please post a full scan of the card in question. This helps us make the more accurate and correct rulings. Thanks!

In this case your son is correct. The minimum damage that Gigaton Punch will do is 60, before any modifiers such as Resistance, Abilities, etc. You flip a coin when you use the attack, and if it's heads, it does an additional 20 damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon (for a total of 80) plush another 20 damage to one of their Benched Pokemon. If it's tails, the attack just does 60 damage to the Active Pokemon. If the attack was meaning to do no damage if you flipped tails, it would include text saying "if tails, this attack does nothing."
