How long did it take you to become good at the game?

This can be very varied. It took me longer to get good at the game because stuff was harder back then. The game took more skill and netdecking was harder. Nowadays, anyone with average skill can put up EXs into a deck and claim that they become good at the game. The learning curve for the game now is way easier than it was before that's for sure.

My first tourney was in 2011, it was a a S/P/T that i came 3rd at with luxchomp. As for when I got good, idk if I an still say I'm good lol. it just takes time, i think. Oh, and luck. :p

Lots and lots of luck. I do feel that playing the game for a long time can help you outsmart newbies even if you don't playtest as much. That's how I get decent records in Pokemon tournaments despite my addiction to Cardfight!! Vanguard

I started getting good at this game when I found a group of friends that I could test play with and had confidence that they were good players. I started off doing okay at small tournaments. By the time I got to my second season I had a strong group of team mates that playtested and strategized together. I have consistently topped most small events with a couple wins under my belt, got t2 at a states and t4 at nats last year all thanks to help from my team.

I just started playing the TCG last year, so I'm still learning.
My first tournament was awful, I finished dead last. -oops- But then my next tournament I finished 24/32, so it was an improvement at least.
I feel that as long as you keep playing you're only going to improve. c:

I've only recently started "playing" in October or november or so. I think I'm pretty good but then again i havent gotten to play much :(.

I started playing when I was almost eight. I went to my first tournament when I was nine or ten. I didn't do well (well being defined by top cutting and/or winning tournaments) until I was eleven or twelve.

I didn't have any ways to improve myself until a couple months before I started doing well, though (aside from occasional email exchanges with my league leader). I improved dramatically after I found a good testing partner and joined some online forums. After that, I quickly started doing well, but I was in Seniors and had plenty of time to get a feel for the game, so those two factors gave me a big advantage.
