Pokemon How long until Pokemon dies out?

Even if the handheld system will someday disappear Im sure pokemon games will simply move to other console that will replase the handheld
like special tablet for games or something

As long as Nintendo and the 3DS or handheld systems are alive there will always be pokemon. By the way, if it was unfortunate for it to happen, the fans or indie devs will always have something.

Virtually no best-selling franchise, not in film, not in comics, not in anything, has completely died out in the entire past hundred years.

I would have to agree with you there. However, you have to think about the order things are going to die out. The term/franchise "Pokemon" is going to stay around for a long time. But the anime..... is pretty bad and its going nowhere but south so i think the anime is going to die then the video games (due to tablet devices and other technology) then the TCG as long as they nerf the new Pokemon sometime.

If you guys want to be exact... 114 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, 4 days, 19 hours, 45 minutes, and 27 1/2 seconds.

We saw it once a while back-where nearly everyone just stopped playing. Do you think it could happen again? And if so-will it be permanent? I'm not just talking about the TCG but Pokemon in general. How long do you think it could last?

Do your research! The main-series games sell MILLIONS of units each time they're released, not to mention that the side titles can still be hot sellers too. Furthermore, not all of Pokemon is bound up in the video games or TCG. There's a ton of merchandise that people love to buy and collect too.

I like how the most downloaded Pokémon game is the 5th most bought.

Well, Pokémon video game sales are dropping every time a new game is released. I am interested to see how X & Y will pan out in terms of sales. I think they will do rather well, I'm optimistic.

It's sad to see how low sales were for B2/W2. People didn't seem to bother with it because of their biased opinions from what I've seen :'C Same goes for B/W.

Hoping X/Y gets a lot of sales, they are really hyping it and I don't see as much hate for it as B/W got c'B

Why do people even hate BW2? They're so much better than BW and what biased opinions?

I admit, nostalgia ruins playing new games for me. All I want to do is play older Pokémon games, but when I do I get bored after a while. BW2 were great games, it had been a while since I enjoyed a Pokémon game. Last time I really enjoyed a Pokémon game was R/S/E. Yeah that's a long time ago, D/P/P weren't my cup of tea and neither were B/W. I went out and bought White 2 out of the blue as I had some money, I thought it's been a while since I've played Pokémon why not. I loved it, couldn't get off it. It would be true to say, I don't get the same enjoyment out of Pokémon games as I once did. I bought the new Mystery Dungeon team game a few weeks back, when it was released here in the UK. I played it for about 15 minutes then got bored, I am planning to sell it now. X & Y look really good, a fresh approach to Pokémon but keeping it's values. You have to look at is it the Pokémon, Location, Storyline or characters that they don't like, or are they naïve and haven't played the games.

My main point in sharing that link was to show that the games are still selling in the millions with every new gen release, even if sales have gone down over the years. It's not the most glamorous track record, but the series is far from dying yet. Besides, that isn't accounting for merchandise sales, which account for more of the series' profits.
