At the time you capture them that is.
Basiclly, I (Almost) always SR and Master Ball a Legendary. (I clone Pokeballs)
But, I'm worried that you could get a Reshiram/Zekrom with the wrong nature. So, can you check it as soon as you catch it?

As soon as you catch Reshiram or Zekrom, you get your Pokemon healed by N, then go straight into the battle. You will have to battle N, and his father, before you can check.

^Just a thing... Are you talking about Geechisu when you say "his father"? Geechisu isn't N's father (as far as I know)...

Just from reading through the forums that is what i picked up. I may of read something wrong but i do recall seeing it somewhere

Sadly, I don't think so. It doesn't show up in the battle menu stats, and there's no way to open the main menu and check their nature until after you've beaten the main story and the game decides to save itself (from my experience).

I don't know if it's against the rule to revive an old thread (please delete it if so), but I came across this thread via google so I'd like to add some input to it.

The only way you can check R/Z's nature is catch it first (preferably with a synchronizer, like Elgyem or Munna), battle N but purposely lose to him. (You can just throw Pokeballs at him. Your fine is P7000 for losing, but you can buy stuff beforehand to make your amount close to 0). Now you'll be sent to a Pokemon Center and you now know what to do.

HADAA, it's fine to reivive an old thread as long as your post contributes to the topic in a way that will generate more discussion (and as long as the thread isn't ultra-old).

Anyway, HADAA's method is probably best for knowing exactly what nature your Reshiram / Zekrom is.

While I was thinking over other possible methods when I was catching Reshiram, I came up with something. Use an IV calculator to calculate the IVs of Reshiram / Zekrom at Level 50 with the nature you want. (IVs should be set to 31, of course.) When you catch Reshiram / Zekrom, check its stats. If its stats are within the range of stats you got with the calculator, it may be the nature you want.

For example, let's say you're aiming to get a Modest Reshiram. A Modest Reshiram at Lv.50 with max IVs will have a Special Attack stat of 187. With a neutral nature, the highest its Sp. Attack can be is 170. If you catch Reshiram and its Sp. Attack is higher than 170, it has a Sp. Attack boosting Nature. Using this method, you can also kind of figure out what its nature lowers by checking the maximum of a lowering nature and the minimum of a neutral nature, though it may be hard to pinpoint since the numbers may vary with low IVs.

And, since you're checking its stats already, you're making sure the Reshiram you're catching has good IVs! :)

This isn't a sure-fire thing, but it may be quicker than losing to N as you can just soft reset as soon as you check the stats.

Wouldn't it also work to have 5 pokemon in your party when you catch him, because then you could check DURING the battle with N?

^No. You can't check the natures of Pokemon during a battle. It seems that HADAA's method is the quickest one that would work.

knowing base stats may help.
Bring 5 pokemon, and capture zekrom/reshiram. In battle against N check the stats with this.

Reshiram's Maximum Stats

Stat Max- Max Max+
HP - 175 -
Atk 126 140 154
Def 108 120 132
SpA 153 170 187
SpD 126 140 154
Spe 99 110 121

Zekrom's Maximum Stats

Stat Max- Max Max+
HP - 175 -
Atk 153 170 187
Def 126 140 154
SpA 126 140 154
SpD 108 120 132
Spe 99 110 121

With those number you may infere the nature of your pokémon.

Not really, because IVs can really vary the stats.

Losing to N is the fastest way to do it. Barring that, you have to beat the game and sit through the postgame silliness before you can check.
