BW/BW2 How to find a Shiny easily

I know that in previous games, you could "Chain" Pokemon until you found a shiny patch. How can this be done in the B/W games? Is there an easy way to do it in this Gen? All help is appreciated.

No, you can't chain in this game. Basically, the only way to increase your chances of getting a shiny is through the Masuda method, and even that doesn't offer good chances (1 in roughly 1366). RNG is another venue, but I don't think it's possible to RNG for shinies in 5th Gen without an AR. A sad day for shiny hunters. :(

i know a good way to get shinies well one obvious way is to get a few glitch pokemon in your game then in certain areas you can run into shiny lv.100 legends. My friend did that and he caught me a shiny kyogre. Another way is to breed foreign pokemon like a japanese pokemon. its more likely to hatch a shiny than with your native pokemon

but it may take like 60 eggs

@igotatebyamagickarp- im pretty sure the shiny legendary lv 100 glitch isnt real. they would of def. fixed that by now. maybe it was AR

its real all right. he caught it april 9 2011 on route 15. It is real. im sorry if im offending you by saying this but could you send me your friend code and name and ill send you mine so i can battle you and show you?:D

and it isn't all just lv100 he catches lv.70's too and they can be not just legendaries he also gave me a shiny meowth.

You can't catch Kyogre on route 15.

@ Freak:p: How does breeding two Shinies make a difference?

@Pokemon99: IS that the fraction for the Masuda Method? Also, is breeding two Snorlax going to give me a Shiny Snorlax?

Yes. 6 in 8192 are the actual odds, but those are commonly simplified to equal 1 in roughly 1366. Last Gen, the odds were 4 in 8192, which were commonly simplified to equal 1 in 2048. And there's a 1 in 8192 possibility that breeding two Snorlax will give you a shiny Snorlax, but I don't think that that is your question.

You have just lied. You are now in comtept of the court.
*chain sound*

Two Shiny's breeding does not in anyway affect the breeding odds. It's still the exact same odds.

My question was if I have a Japanese Snorlax, and a Canadian Snorlax, will it be the Masuda Method odds.

Also what does a Shiny egg look like?

1. Yes, a Japanese Snorlax and a Canadian Snorlax will have the Masuda Method odds, as they are from nations of different languages.

2. Shiny eggs aren't different from normal eggs, at least when comparing looks.

What happened to the good old RNG technic. I haven't looked into it much but it worked 100% of the time in my platinum.

To my knowledge, RNG abuse for shinies still works in 5th Gen, but I don't think you can find your Secret ID without an AR, at least at this point.

So when using Masuda Method, do I have to chain the eggs (Ex. Running around hatching eggs like a madman without turning the system off). Or can I hatch a few, turn my system off and call it a day (like maybe 10 eggs a day?) The reason I ask is because I made this thread to determine how to get shinies in 5th Gen. Now that I know, how does each method work? Except Masuda which I now know most about.

All I want is a shiny Curselax :(

Well, as far as an egg's shininess, it's determined when you pick the egg up. After you pick it up (and then save), the egg will be the same no matter how many times you soft-reset.

A shiny egg does not look any different than a normal one. The only way to find out is to actually hatch it.

For 5th Gen RNG I know there are a few threads on Smogon that write about it in detail.
