BW/BW2 How to find a Shiny easily

^Still doesn't answer my question. Do I have to constantly hatch to get the Shiny (I know that it's determined when picked up). Or can I save it, turn it off and still get my shiny?

Okay. I'm trying to get a shiny Snorlax. What I'm asking is this:

Do I constantly have to keep hatching with the game on to get it (I know that it's determined when picked up). OR. Can I just hatch like 10 eggs, save my game and turn it off, and say the next day hatch ten more and so on. and still get the shiny?

When you pick the egg up, its shininess is determined then and there. So you could either:

~Save before picking up, pick just 1 egg up, run around to see if it's shiny, and if it isn't, then soft reset
~Save before picking up, pick several eggs up, and hope that one of them hatches as a shiny

...since after you pick the egg up, the "Shiny ID" number will stay the same.

You have to breed two shinies

You have just lied. You are now in comtept of the court.
*chain sound*

Two Shiny's breeding does not in anyway affect the breeding odds. It's still the exact same odds.

It wasn't a completely unviable answer. If you bred 1 shiny with 1 regular in Gold/Silver/Crystal, your chances of hatching a shiny were doubled. If you bred 2 shinies, your chances were quadrupled, so at one point in time, Freak's response would have been true. It doesn't work any more, however. (at least not that I'm aware of.)

To my knowledge, since there is no PokeRadar in Diamond and Pearl, the only ways to get Shiny pokemon are through RNG abuse, or the masuada method.

There's actually one more method you forgot. It's called "lucking out".

I know that in previous games, you could "Chain" Pokemon until you found a shiny patch. How can this be done in the B/W games? Is there an easy way to do it in this Gen? All help is appreciated.

@TPO3, please also note that this thread is in the Fifth Gen Forum, and the bolded words in that post. While viable in the past, now it's a lie. Thank you, and have a good day.

Wow.Do I ever feel lucky.I have 3 shinnies in B/W.1.Stoutland(which was a Lillipup)2.Combee(a male so it doesn't evolve)3.Goldeen(which is now a female Seaking). This was all by random.I didn't even try. It's all about luck, nothing else.Unless you try a method. But I never herd of those until now.But it also helps to have a Pokemon, like Watchhog, with the ability Illuminate. That increases the number of Pokemon you see in the wild. That helps sometimes.Although I never used it.

@Snivy: The Masuda method's used to improve the existing odds. If you breed your Pokemon with one obtained in a foreign game (i.e. traded to you), the egg has 4x the likelihood (6x in B/W) of being shiny as opposed to the normal odds. So, that would go from 1/8192 to 6/8192. Even so, that's still pretty small: .07%.

Aside from RNG usage, those are the only two methods that you can really use for finding a shiny. Anything else involves going fighting wild Pokemon a lot or hatching a lot of eggs, both of which are heavily-luck based. RNG is probably the only thing that *isn't* luck-based, since the chances are fixed.

Just to make a small correction about shiny eggs, but if BW follows the same basic mechanic as Gen. 4, the shininess of a Pokémon (included in its PID) is determined when the egg is generated, not received. So, if you're just focused on getting a shiny for the sake of getting a shiny, it doesn't really help the situation much, though if you wanted to get good IVs for example (the only variable generated upon receiving the egg), you could simply soft reset with that shiny egg still being held in the game. Also, while to my knowledge RNG abuse for shiny Pokémon is still being researched, you can still backtrack to a shiny frame if you know at exactly what time down to the second you started the game on when you got the shiny, and how many frames you advanced the PIDRNG (so how many times you saved once ingame for example), as long as the C-Gear is off.

Every time you contradict yourself, you lose your credibility.

@Gary: ...whoa, I didn't know that. I thought shininess was determined at the pickup, not at the creation. Thanks for the heads-up.

I know of a better method.
A friend of mine has a DS (phat) that is really old. So old, in fact, that there is no green color broadcast to the bottom screen (the three primary colors of light are red, green, and blue) whatsoever, so that pretty much any of his Pokemon, when viewed on the bottom screen, appear "shiny". (And, before he told me the secret, I fell for it.)

For example, his Throh looks orange, and his Maractus is black. Seriously, a black Maractus. Things don't get much more awesome than that.

i'm trying to get a shiny zorua and i'm breeding a shiny ditto with a japanese zoroark does that give it any better chance of producing a zoroark?

and what does soft reseting have to do to get a shiny?

No one seems to have answered my question....

No one UNDERSTANDS your question. Go ahead and hatch one egg a day, one a year, or 1 a minute. Your chances are still 6/8192. You might get it on your second egg, or you might get it on your 20,000th egg.

Hope I helped.
