Just went to this dollar store in the mall. Saw a sign that said $1.25 for pokemon cards, so I grabbed 4 packs.

I think the cards are fake. Hopefully you guys can tell, im new to the cards.

First of all the border of the word pokemon is a darker blue that a pack that I got with pokemon official magazine and the back of the packs direct me to go-pokemon.com instead of pokemon.com.

The cards I got in this store feel more like a cheep deck of plastic coated playing cards and also the first 9 cards in the pack are turned one way and the rare is turned another and was always the last card from the front.

This is the best pic I could get showing the color differences.

Sorry if this was already posted as I could not locate the search. Also very rad forums :)

Looks real to me. But the packs don't usually give a good idea of what the cards look like. You explained it a little, but can you show us what those cards actually looked like?

Yeah. Get a pic of the cards, maybe one of the fake, and then one of the real ones of the same card.

The plastic coating on the cards is why I think they are fake.

Ok, this picture show the consistacy of the cards. On the left is a card I got with the magazine on the right one from the booster packs I got in the store. Held up to a light, notce how you can see the image on the front of the card through the back.

I think this happened to me, too. I got a Vespiquen and a Bibarel in a trade, and they had different font than normal cards.

I hate to say it, but those are definitely fakes. Once a Dollar Tree had some packs. We got a LOT of them, then we noticed, they were see-through! We brought them to a collector we knew, and he said they were fake when we brought them to him.

Sorry. =[

Would've been easier if the front could be seen...

But the one on the right might be fake. Unless it is the camera's glare, the one on the right shouldn't be like that. But again, looking at the front would be a whole lot easier.

EDIT: Double Ninja'd =0 But looking again, that is definitely fake.

OH. MY. TURKEY NECK.

(Feel free to quote the above.)

You have been HAD! That's terrible. Sorry about getting cheated out of your money. Out of curiosity, I kinda want to see the front of the card too.

If you see really cheap packs like that, it's probably too good to be true. Personally, I have NEVER seen Pokemon cards at a dollar store. I think some of the safest places to buy from are stores like Wal-Mart, Meijer, or Target. eBay has some really good deals on packs sometimes, but you can get fakes from there too. Just depends on the seller in that case.

Curious as to what the fronts look like. Please post some pictures!

Sorry. =[

Around here they used to sell old Base-Rockets packs, and they were 100% real. Got them from the Dollar Tree too. They don't sell cards anymore though =/

Sorry For the quality, my scanners a bit poop'd. These 2 are pictures of the cards in question.

holo

These pictures are side by side comparisons. The cards on the right are the one's in question.

They look fake. Look how off center the energy symbols are. And on the holo ones the set logo is extremely off center.

definite fakes. the colorless energy symbols are either too far to the right or too big. one of them actually looked fine though

I guess its only a $5 loss, I almost went back in to buy ALOT more of them. Close one. Any suggestions on what to do with them? It might be fun to burn them.

I believe there are several people looking for fakes over at the Pokegym for a fake gallery. See if you can find those.
