I randomly got this:

I want to change my username.

*uninstalls redhark*

I got the same warning and have send it in to AVG for analysis. I also found that removing Redshark left most of the files still on my computer (not including the deck list files, as expected). I had to restart my computer before it would allow me to delete the redshark folder as well, Windows said I was restricted .

Dammmmn, redshark just totally crashed my computer.

I didn't know PokeBeach was distributing viruses!

I recieved the analysis I sent in to AVG regarding Redshark. Here is the result:

AVG Anti-virus Research Lab has analyzed the file(s) you have sent from your AVG Virus Vault. Below you can find the results for each file. The final verdict on the file is either a correct detection or a false positive detection.

Further information about the verdicts are available at our website:

"C:\Program Files\redshark\redshark.exe" - false alarm

Just posting this to make everyone aware of the official result.

Darkwalker,

Thanks for posting that, but, as the author of Redshark, I guarantee that there are no viruses, trojan horses, spyware, or anything malicious included in the redshark program files included in the installer. For whatever reason, there does seem to be something in it that is sometimes incorrectly detected as some type of malware. There are viruses and such that can attack/invade existing exe files, but, again, I guarantee that the redshark program files are 100% safe as distributed.

i was getting the same error until today's AVG update. Now i reinstalled redshark and it works fine.

I was scared! I love redshark lol

Looks a lot more like a false positive to me.

Generic10.* viruses aren't actual virus signature matches, they're heuristic matches that think they found something, and they're pretty much always wrong, at least with AVG -- it's heuristic engine is terrible.

If you downloaded it from PokeBeach, I can tell you it's not infected. I'd turn off heuristic matching and save yourself a lot of unnecessary worry.

Even AVG has responded and said that it is a false alarm.

AS LONG AS YOU DOWNLOAD IT FROM POKEBEACH IT WILL BE 100% CLEAN AND SAFE!
