All the true poison pokemon are {G} and {P}... Poision is definently NOT {P}

They should make a new type...like maybe a light green skull for the poison energy? idk. Maybe an ice type too...?? Why dosen't the TCG have these types?

My guess is to cut down the amount of different types, where you can make types more "counterable".

*Cough* spelling and grammar fixed up, because I honestly think this is an interesting topic.

It's hard to say why they haven't considered expanding the typing... I understand that keeping a limited number of types in the TCG makes it easier to handle deck combinations (less fiddly energies you need to tote around) but at the same time also makes the game still accessible to a younger generation, not just strictly the older players who won't have trouble juggling so many types about.

I've always wanted a Flying type of card, so... :)

I think part of the reason lies with overall fluidity of the game. Having almost 20 kinds of energy, along with 20 combinations of weaknesses and resistances would be really messy I think.

Imagine having 20 types. Thre would be no real metagame or rouge. It woul just be what people played, and you would have too buy a lot of packs just to get the one evolution line.

They are not types because the card creators have not decided to make them types...

It's a good call too. With too many types, the chance of having two attackers with synergy being able to use the same energy type gets lowered. All the combos would be spelled out and past that there's not much you can do. Furthermore, if all the poison types are unplayable and the strongest deck is weak to poison it becomes a static format. This is already a problem, it would just get worse.

Poison's probably one of the worst candidates for its own TCG type (apart from Dragon and Ice, who are too small). It's a big type, but it's super-effective against practically nothing, and I expect Grass would remain weak to Fire anyway. All that would change is that Metal becomes slightly worse because they'd change to a Poison resistance. There are a few types, like Bug or Rock that MIGHT be suitable for their own types, but I seriously doubt any would (or realistically should) happen. The less types the TCG has, the better. It allows for more combos.

Same reason there's no ground, dragon, ice, etc. If you include all those types, the TGC will become fragmented and unorganized. I Don't know why they switched poison types to the psychic icon, but I don't have a problem with it.

I think they just associated Poison with the colour Purple ya know? Which is why they changed Poison-type Pokemon to Purply Psychic Types in the TCG.

Ice is linked to Water, i.e. Ice melts and turns into the liquid H2O, so Ice should stay as Water-types in the TCG.

Iunno, I've always saw the TCG as having 8 types (when Metal & Dark types came out way back when, I was totally hyped up about it!), so I guess I've always took it for granted. 8 types is enough though. After all, MTG only has FOUR types, and they're working out pretty well in game mechanics.

If we had any more types, there would be no combinations/counters/fun things to play at prereleases. It's just better balance for the game to have less types, so more options for each type.

Basically, instead of having our current Mexican-standoff situation, we'd have a shootout in the dark. Run a type you think will counter a lot of the other types in the meta. You don't know what you're shooting at, but pray it hits a useful target.

I think one TCG type that could be splitted is the Fighting-type which could be done by letting the Fighting pokémon keep its own type and join Rock & Ground pokémon to make another TCG type...

I wouldn't mind the current type set-up so much if they would make the weaknesses and resistances consistent with the video games. None of this "Seel is weak to Metal" or "Emolga is weak against Fighting even though Zapdos and Thundurus resist it" nonsense.

But in my own little world I do wish all 17 types were represented. Even if the other eight that don't exist in the TCG now only were present as secondary types to the existing nine or something.

Essentially, for simplicity's sake. Otherwise, things would be crazy, with a lack of cards to combo together. What I wouldn't mind, however, is a different pattern for each type as a purely aesthetic way to differentiate the types (and keeping the same 9-Energy types already present). So for TCG Psychic-types, Ghost, Poison, and Psychics would all have a different texture (with still each considered Psychic).

Neo Redux has them. ;)
