States is this weekend, and out of nostalgia, I wanted to recreate the deck I ran for my first states. I was fairly new back then, and looking back, there was a lot I could have done to make the deck better (for example, taking out Typhlosion HGSS (not prime)), but despite that, I somehow managed to go 3-3. Here's what I've been able to remember and thus improve upon; It's not perfect (been thinking about Fliptini) and I'd appreciate any advice you could give:
Pokemon(20)
3 Chimchar (Pl 70)
2 Monferno(Pl 56 & Md 41)
3 Infernape (2x Pl 31 & 1x Sf 3)
1 Infernape Lv X
2 Vulpix (Pl 102)
2 Ninetales (HGSS)
1 Heatran (Ar 3)
1 Heatran Lv X
2 Spiritomb (Ar 32)
1 Uxie (La 43)
Trainers(21)
3 Sage's
3 Collector
3 Rare Candy
3 Communication
2 Juniper
2 Quick Ball
2 Premier Ball
1 Seeker
1 Luxury Ball
1 Switch
1 Memory Berry
1 Expert Belt
16 {R}
The idea of the deck was to start out with either Spiritomb and gett out the Infernapes, or to start with Vulpix and use Reheat to discard 2 {R} and draw 4. Once you got an Infernape out, you could begin to use Rushing Flames which let you flip coins for each {R} attached to all your Pokemon as you wanted to discard. 80 x the number of heads. Since it allowed you to reattach 2 to your active, Heatran Lv X ensured you could at least flip 2 every turn. Once you had 8 {R} in the discard, you could use Infernape Lv X's attack for 150 (this was a lot more significant before the EX's) and shuffle those 8 {R} back into your deck. That's the gist of it.
