EDIT: IMPORTANT I did an absolutely massive overhaul of this deck completely so please take a second look at it because the concept it totally different now!

Pokemon 16

  • -4 Chimchar
    -1 Monferno
    -4 Infernape
    -2 Magnemite
    -2 Magnezone
    -3 Deoxys EX

Trainers 36

  • -4 Blacksmith
    -1 Pal Pad
    -2 Ultra Ball
    -4 Skyla
    -2 Team Plasma Ball
    -2 Level ball
    -1 Startling Megaphone
    -2 Frozen City
    -2 Silver Bangle
    -1 Professor's Letter
    -4 Rare Candy
    -1 Professor Juniper
    -4 N
    -1 Dowsing Machine
    -1 Lysandre
    -1 Random Receiver
    -2 Switch
    -1 Escape rope

Energy 8

  • -8 Fire

The strategy is to power up infernape's malevolent fire attack which does 120 for 2 energy and then discards 2. This combos perfectly with Blacksmith. Bench as many Deoxy's EX as you can to increase the damage. For example, 2 doexys and a silver bangle knocks out most EX's.

Then there's magnezone who's only purpose is for his "dual brains" ability. This let's you play 2 supporters per turn. This is very helpful because blacksmith is a supporter and I play lysandre to catcher out ideal prize trades for infernape. Frozen city softens up opponent for easier knockouts for infernape.
The energy is a little low but keep in mind that you just keep reusing the same couple energies so you shouldn't need much.

RE: InferBoar (Infernape / Emboar)

I really don't think that Infernape is neccesary in here. He is tough to set up and then he doesn't do that much damage considering, the Reshiram almost completely outclasses it.

I won't make any specific suggestions, but I'll make some big, general ones. For one, I don't think that Emboar is neccesary either, unless you pair it up with Delphox. Also, you could use Pyroar as well. Try out a lot of different sorts of fire Pokemon along with the fire support to see what'll work best. Infernape just won't get you the best results, unfortunately.

Tell me what you think about trying something different than Infernape.

I have considered some alternatives to Infernape!
The most obvious one is delphox. The advantage is you can do tons of damage by attaching a lot of energy. However, you have to attach 3 to attack while infernape only 2. Also, Infernape discards energy when he attacks which, in this deck, is sort of a good thing because we get it back with superior energy retrieval and then can attach it anywhere it needs to go.
The other being talonflame who has a similar attack but only does 100 damage, while he does have 130 hp and the big advantage of being weak to electric instead of water.
Any of these would be good choices

Also, I know that reshiram has pretty much just as good of attacks as infernape. However, with pyroar coming out, I think having nonbasic, nonEX attackers would be a good idea

RE: InferBoar (Infernape / Emboar)

Also, what do you think of all the new tie support cards, and would you used them in here?

Perhaps. Only because infernape only needs 2 energy to attack. However, I would definitely change the lineup. Mewtwo would be useless because they can only attach energy to fire pokemon and also it needs a lot of energy to do good damage. I prefer emboar personally

RE: InferBoar (Infernape / Emboar)

2 observations with your list:
  • There are no Level Balls in your list; so you're solely relying upon drawing into them or through your 3 Ultra Balls. Given that you need to get 2 Stage 2 lines into play, more Poke search option are needed, IMHO.
  • There are only 6 total card draw Supporters which I think is woefully insufficient.
I'd suggest you consider:
-1 Skyla
-1 Escape Rope / Float Stone

+2 Level Ball
- - - - or - - - -
+2 N

In addition, also consider incorporating 1 Pal Pad (retrieves and recycles 2 Supporters from your discard pile back into your deck) the Flashfire set; maybe replacing 1 R energy.

I hope you find these comments helpful.

RE: InferZone (Infernape/ Magnezone PLS)

Hey guys I took into account a lot of what you guys were saying about how emboar wasn't really needed in the deck so I removed it and used blacksmith for energy acceleration instead. This freed up space for magnezone. Since blacksmith is a supporter, being able to play 2 supporters per turn will increase the speed of the deck getting set up a lot. While still keeping the great plasma, stage 2, low cost attacker combo. I added Deoxys aswell to get knockouts on EX and lysandre combos well so that I can try to always take 2 prizes. Please continue to post any suggestions or concerns you may have!

RE: InferZone (Infernape/ Magnezone PLS)

I actually had this same idea a week ago. I realized that with Deoxys and Silver Bangle, you could get up to 190 damage for 2 energy. The deck I tested was a fail, but that was because I wasn't too familiar with the new fire engine. When I tried a Charizard deck, I used more draw items and seemed to do better. Maybe that would work here.

Yea I think the tough part will be making sure you're able to play a blacksmith every turn once you get set up. That's why I'm running so many skyla and I could add more draw cards awell. Thats why I think it works well with magnezone, you can search for a blacksmith and play it the same turn!

I actually put together a list of this deck a bit ago and it is almost identical to your list minus a few discrepancies. Only differences are that I'm have 2 monferno instead of the one and a full set of 4 deoxys. I also have 8 fire instead of 7. I haven't gotten a chance to play test it but hey if two people have made such a similar list it can't be all bad right?

Hey guys! Back after some testing and I found that the deck really stalls if you don't keep getting draw supporters. Also, discarding cards, especially at the beginning of the game, really hurts. If the deck gets set up its really strong but I'm having some trouble getting it going. I think im going to go to 4 N and only 1 Juniper, plus add random receiver and maybe another energy. You really need to play as many supporters as possible.

My list is similar but i dont run magzone
3 deoxys ex
4 chimchar
1 monferno
4 infenape
2 Moltres Ex
1 duddragon ff

4 n
2 juniper
4 shuana
2 colress
3 blacksmith
2 pal pad

I had success with this deck. With 3 deoxys your doing 150 plus silver bangle 180 or 170 muscle band. I m no sure wither to run lysandre or poke catcher currently running 2 lysandre and its works for me or sometimes back fire but with catcher you switch and blacksmith for a ex knock out. This deck is auto win against vir genesect struggles with no ex decks you whereout fast taking 1 prize knock outs.
