Everyone has a good few quotes they keep tucked away in their cranium for self-motivation, whether it be their role-model, favorite author, or even a best friend. Within this thread, feel free to post and discuss any quotes you'd like. I'll post a couple of my favorites, by the one and only, Dr. Suess. He was such an inspirational man, and I'm still amused by his children's books.

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

"If you don't like me, remember it's mind over matter. I don't mind, and you don't matter."

“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities."

It's probably because I'm an raving Lord of the Rings fan, but:

"Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers!
I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me.
A day may come when the courage of Men fails
When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship
But it is not this day
An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Man comes crashing down
But it is not this day!
This day we fight!
By all that you hold dear on this good earth
I bid you stand, Men of the West!"

I find I vaguely motivational.

I also forgot to mention- another favorite quote of mine is a little sample from Seamus Heaney's Scaffolding:

"So if, my dear, there sometimes seems to be,
Old bridges breaking between you and me,
Never fear. We will let the scaffolds fall,
Confident that we have built our wall."

"When you have come to the edge of all you know and are about to drop off in to the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen.....That there will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly." Horus

"The Reson a man acts is as important as the deed its self.
Nobility of purpose may excuse the blackest of deeds, hate and greed may foul the proudest acomplishments"
Mathus Thulmann p.94

Words to live by. Also If you don't like the way I do something, do it yourself.

I can't figure out how to italicize. The first quote that comes to mind is from "Drive" by Incubus. "whatever tomorrow brings I'll be there, with open arms and open eyes". I think those are some good words to live by.

You get italics from [ i ]. Without the spaces.

"Dignity is the enemy of creativity."
~The Creator of Klutz (Don't feel like looking for it :p)

Just seen this on COD MW2 -

Amateurs practice to win, professionals practice to not lose.

I thought it was pretty cool.

Fire, we need more fire! Screw the petty tactics, Call in an Earthshaker Artillery Barrage.

Warhammer 40k books.

Earthshaker CannonEdit Earthshaker Cannon

The Earthshaker cannon or 'Earthshaker' artillery gun is a 132mm breech-loading cannon used by the Imperial Guard. It has the one of longest ranges of any weapon in the entire game, with a direct-fire in-game range of ten feet on the tabletop, while its stated range when firing in a direct fire position is 15km. In various cases, the cannon can be upgraded with aiming equipment to be able to fire indirectly in the same way as traditional artillery pieces like howitzers. When firing indirectly, the weapon's in-game range is doubled to twenty feet; this is much longer than the tables the game is prescribed to be played on, in effect giving it limitless range at that scale of gameplay. According to the background, if the Earthshaker were fired indirectly, it would have a reach of about 60 to 70 kilometers under average standard atmospheric and gravitic conditions. In the Epic 40k game scale, the Earthshaker can fire barrages at ranges of up to 240cm on the tabletop.

In the background, the Earthshaker is described as a very long ranged weapon, capable of bombarding the rear area of an enemy force without having to be anywhere near it. Its shells are packed with powerful explosives that will destroy nearly anything within a sizable radius. While it is not as strong as the Demolisher Cannon in terms of brute explosive force, its remains an invaluable weapon thanks to its range, and the ability to use indirect fire. Characteristic to the cannon are the powerful earthquake and horrendously loud sounds it makes on impact, hence the name. It uses shells called Hell Breakers which is more powerful then the standard shell as shown in the book Fifteen Hours by Michael Scanlon.

The weapon itself can be found mounted on the Imperial Guard's standard artillery piece, the Basilisk. The Earthshaker can also be fielded as static or towed artillery pieces using supplementary rules provided by Forge World in the Imperial Armour sourcebooks.[10] The Imperial Guard is well-known for conducting sustained artillery bombardment from massed companies of Basilisks preceding a major assault, lasting hours - or even days - consuming tremendous amounts of ordnance. The battlefield is churned into a cratered waste and the enemy force is left in smoking ruin, preceding a combined arms advance of armor and mechanized Guard infantry.

Before being named as the Earthshaker cannon, the gun on the Basilisk self propelled gun was referred to as the "Macro-cannon".
