At the 2014 NY Toy Fair, Spin Master (a toy company :p) has revealed that a Pokémon themed Ionix shapeshifting construction playset will be released this fall. For those who are not familiar with Ionix, it is a brand of Lego-like bricks that can shapeshift into multiple appearances. (Like Transformers)

Why Pokémon? My guess is that the general theme is based on evolution. In a picture below, you'll find on a packaged box that a Bulbasaur can shapeshift into a Venusaur, and then into a Mega Venusaur. Why no Ivysaur? It should also be noted that the figures below are said to be ruff prototypes, so the final products may look completely different.
Will you collect 'em all?

I can't get this since I'm in Australia, but it does seem quite interesting. If I was in New York, then yes, I would collect them all! I'd be more than happy to, anyway. But as to how you can shape-shift them into....say Bulbasaur into Venusaur...I do not know how that would work.

Maybe you will have to rebuild them?

I want to get this but the fact that Ash looks like he is wearing football pads makes me shiver. And no Ivysaur, it shows how little this toy company actually cares about the product, they just want money

Lego ripoffs just need to go extinct.

I too would like to see how this is possible. Either you have to rebuild the Bulbasaur by adding more pieces to it, or that is going to be one big Bulbasaur. :p
