iPad Versus Amazon eKindle

The title says it all. Which do you prefer? Why? I prefer iPads as oy can use them for more than reading. Admittedly, yes, they are really only giant iPod touches bur they can do many things, like used the web. I'm using an iPod touch right now to write this. I desperately want an iPad too.

The Kindle is a ridiculous product, and while the iPad is not a good product either, I don't see why you would use it for reading books. Just go to a library or a book store and get the book there for goodness' sake.

Say you are on a train, or on aplane. You can't go to the library then.

You could have bought the book in advance? I've seen plenty of people reading regular books on planes.

I honestly don't like either of these products. The iPad is just a giant iTouch, and the only difference is just that you can type documents.

I don't like the Kindle, because it takes the enjoyment away from reading an actual book.

Kindles are sorta novelty. Like if you'd get one you wouldn't really like it but you would pretend to because you CAN READ BOOKS ON A HAND-HELD ELECTRONIC SYSTEM!

I just prefer to read books on the original hand-held system. A book. And then take that book and read it. It feels like you actually "have" it when its a book, as opposed to data.

Well for reading, Kindle is better (book isn't an option, so I won't go into how they are the best for reading) because it uses actual ink so you can read in sun light. Ipads are better for everything else. If I could get an Ipad for free or cheap, I'd get one. But not at full price. It isn't that special

a couple weeks ago i would have been with everyone talking bad about the ipad, but having recently tried one, i have to say they're pretty awesome products. i never did any extensive reading on one, but they actually seem pretty multifunctional and make some games really really fun to play.

I wasn't too impressed by the iPad but I went into a store, and you could just play with it. I spent over an hour in there... Then I wanted to get one. By reading standards, kindle is better, but you can only read books on it.

The iPad is actually a lot of fun to use.
Using applications and Safari is much easier on the iPad than any iPod touch, imo.

I have the kindle, but I rather just upload the book to the computer since you can do that with Kindle. It's easier and you can do more. IPad is pretty good to though.

Kindle is good for reading a book. Though I would prefer actually getting the book itself and reading it. The iPad has apps you can use, has games you can play and also surf the internet. But overall getting a book is the best.

I won't get either. I see no reason to get an iPad. I have a desktop computer, macbook, and iPod touch. My macbook can do 10 times the things a iPad can do.
Most apps as well are either iPod Touch & iPhone/iPad compatible or are iPod Touch/iPhone only. There are those select apps that are iPad only, but they don't appeal to me. Kindle seems decent I guess, but with having a iPod Touch already to me it would just be wasted money.

If you want a device solely to read books: Get a Kindle. It doesn't have harsh light that harms your eyes, and it more simulates the feeling of reading a book. It also has 3-G coverage for free so you can pick up new reads almost anywhere.

If you want a device that also has other features: You cannot go wrong with the iPad. Thousands of applications ranging from games to word processors, it is wi-fi compatible and 3-G, but you have to pay a ridiculously large amount for it.

It's actually not TOO bad if you get the 16GB for $499.
