I was hoping for some advice on a deck I've built on PTCGO that doesn't seem to flow so well.

Pokémon: 20
  • 3 Exeggcute PLF
  • 3 Exeggutor PLF
  • 2 Oddish AOR
  • 2 Gloom AOR
  • 2 Vileplume AOR
  • 2 Spinarak AOR
  • 2 Ariados AOR
  • 1 Wobbuffet PHF
  • 2 Shaymin-EX ROS
  • 1 Jirachi-EX PLB
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 34
  • 1 Computer Search BCR
  • 3 Ultra Ball FLF
  • 3 Battle Compressor PHF
  • 2 Revitalizer GEN
  • 4 Muscle Band XY
  • 1 Float Stone BKT
  • 2 VS Seeker PHF
  • 2 Virbank City Gym PLS
  • 4 Forest of Giant Plants AOR
  • 1 Ghetsis PLF
  • 2 Colress PLS
  • 2 Professor Sycamore XY
  • 4 N DEX
  • 2 AZ PHF
  • 1 Lysandre FLF
Energy: 6
  • 6 Grass Energy
Strategy:

The whole idea behind this deck is to have Exeggutor hit with his Blockade attack while having Vileplume on the bench thus stopping my opponent from playing any items &/or Supporters. Then using Ariados & Muscle Band to amp up the damage behind Exeggutor.

I'm noticing when playing online that I'm either struggling to get the Exeggutor out reliably or just not setting up as fast as i could. Does anyone have any suggestions/improvements?

Changes:
+ 1 Wobbuffet PHF
+ 1 Float Stone BKT
+ 1 Battle Compressor PHF
+ 2 Revitalizer GEN
+ 2 Professor Sycamore XY
+ 2 Grass Energy
- 2 Unown AOR
- 2 Level Ball AOR
- 2 VS Seeker PHF
- 2 Colress PLS
- 1 AZ PHF

Pokémon: 21

  • 2 Vileplume AOR
  • 2 Spinarak AOR
  • 2 Ariados AOR
  • 2 Shaymin-EX ROS
  • 1 Jirachi-EX PLB

Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 35

take out the level balls for 1 more battle compressor and 1 revitalizer. This way you can discard to grab evolutions. 2 revitalizer would be better.

Drop the unown ando add in brigette or fan club. Brigette helps you set up while fan club let's you grab a shaymin and a pokemon.

Drop ghetsis and maybe 2 colress for better draw support. Sycamore is better.

4 of vs seeker seems terrible in item lock. Since you have to either use them turn one or after an AZ. If you must run some, maybe 2. Then the other 2 could be one more oddish and gloom. I would suggest no vs seekers though.

I also can't see 4 grass being enough

I would almost say drop Ariados entirely and play a 2-2 Garbodor Line. The play only 6 or 7 energy and play TONS of hammers.

Your opponent can no longer play : Energy, Supporters, Items, and Abilities.

So you can lock everything.

Good call on the Revitalizer! I have completely forgot about that card!

The Unknown were only added as I was worried about draw support while I was item locked but I like the idea of Brigette/Fan Club I'll take your advice & add them as well!

I know Sycamore is better but I was worried about discarding important cards (Energy's mostly as I play so little). The VS Seekers were mostly so I could Turn one make sure I had a AZ in hand so If I ever needed items again myself I could get them But I see what your saying as I do end up mostly discarding them as Ultra Ball fodder after I have the AZ in hand. I might keep 2 in deck as a just in case.

4 grass isn't enough, but I couldn't work out how best to add more without dropping important cards from the list..

Garbodor stops item lock...

As Ivy_Profen mentioned, Garbodor would stop item lock plus I need the Ariados to add extra damage as Exeggutor does an amazing 10 damage (30 with Muscle Band)...

Ya I now realize that Garbodor stops item lock. I think with a good enough deck though you won't need the ariados because your opponent won't be able to do anything. I really like this deck idea.

I tried this deck a while back.
I found that I couldn't do enough damage.

How do you get KO's on high hp stuff?

I'm trying to build a better version of this deck, because i love it. I play flare grunts and xerosic.

You should consider one wobbuffet and float stones. Since there's no way for ur opponent to force a switch with escape rope or lysandre. You can toss up wobbuffet when exeggutor goes down and give ur self 1 turn of items and float stone out to lock them again.

That's the second issue I'm having, The ideal setup is Exeggutor + Muscle Band (10 + 20) then Poison using Ariados (10) with Virbank City Gym (+ 20) which gives me a total of 60 Damage.

Starting to thing that this deck won't work, The power output is way too low!

That's why I think stoutland is a better option. But this is more consistent.

I was tempted by Stoutland but the consistency put me off it

I like that idea! Almost better than running the 3 AZ... I might have to tech him in some how...

What is locking playing energy?

It's another 30 for poison coming back into your turn assuming that your opponent doesn't retreat or knock out Virbank City Gym. Older lists would occasionally play Dragalge to ensure your opponent didn't retreat out of poison, but that might get a little clunky with Vileplume in the deck too.

Updated my original list to reflect the recent changes, I'm a lot happier with this list (Especially the increased energy) but at the same time I think I can do better still, Maybe up the Wobbuffet & Float stone count to two each?

The issue is because this is expanded I can more or less guarantee a Keldeo EX + Float Stone combo so I try to not look into that.

The low count of Virbank does worry me a little, I am tempted to do a 360 on my stadium counts & have 2 Forest & 4 Virbank but then I'm worried about the turn one Vileplume.

I forgot about Dragalge, that could work? Just means fitting anther Stage 2 in which is hard..

With Item lock ideally turn one? Even if they do get it, you can just Lysandre the Keldeo.

It's actually a Stage 1, but that's still fairly difficult.

Also, you need a minimum of 2 Float Stones if you're playing Vileplume. You really want to get a Float Stone on it, and if it's prized and they Lysandre Vileplume, it's going to be a bad day.

Not sure why but i forgot that they can't play float stone because of the item lock! Must have had my mind elsewhere!

/SlapsHead I meant stage one, Not sure why I typed Stage 2!

I would rather play Two but not sure what to cut..

Though with testing online with this list I'm tempted to drop 1 N & make the stadium counts more equal.. I could drop an N & a Forest of Giant Planets to add a Float stone & another Virbank.....

My friend played tis once and he came last, the damge output is to slow and its just to hard to play with this deck
but he palyed it 2 sets ago so maybe it works now
and a team flare grant can be nice
