Is megazone still a viable deck?

I understand some decks that used to be popular are dying out, but is megazone one of them? It's a great deck, but I want to know if it's still good before I go out and buy more megas/zones. If it's still good, can someone tell me if it will still be good even with the release of ex's/future sets. Thanks!

It's certainly still viable.

After the next set with Durant's release, it's a little questionable. But right now, its only bad matchup is Donphan and Reshiram is a little bad. It's a great play for Regionals - just past that it might be risky depending on how the meta plays out.

It's still good for cities right? (I can't make regionals :( ) is it good with kingdra? Jirachi? Thanks

I still like Jirachi, but I don't like Kingdra. But without Kingdra, Jirachi is pretty bleh.

Durant will most likely be released before Cities. :(

Hmmm. I guess I will make a megazone deck, but is there any counter to durant? Durant discards correct?

Yeah. There's honestly no counter to it. Just accept the auto-loss. Yanmega 2-hits and is resource heavy and Magnezone is too hard to setup. Running 2+ FSL isn't really worth-it. I suppose the other thing is a mini-ZPS engine.

ok thanks. I noticed that on one of jwittz's videos, he battled another megazone with the mini zps engine. Is pachi or jirachi better?
Ps I posted my list in deck garage

I posted on it - Pachirisu is generally better. Especially if you're running the mini-ZPS lol.

Yea, it's kind of hard to get the self generation without pachi unless they have a bad start lol. I'll add pachi and I made changes to my deck

Nope. Durant KILLS the deck. It will become the new BDIF, and the only way to stop it is ZPTS.
that's pure speculation/theorymon, however Durant looks like it has potential. It WILL see play, though I'm not sure as the BDIF. Zpst stops it, and Zpst is the BDIF atm.

I think everyone should keep in mind Japan is far ahead of us in terms of sets and has had Durant for while, and while its not a bad deck, it is not at all the BDIF in Japan. I don't know much about Japan but I have heard some things, yet Durant is never mentioned, so I'm fairly certain that its not BDIF.

Durant WILL NOT be BDIF. It will not be close. It will have some interesting matchups, but won't be played enough or have matchups across the board that are good enough for it to do that well.

MegaZone is certainly still viable, and one of the best decks in format if you know how to play it. It's got pretty good matchups overall, so by all means play it if you enjoy it.

I am failing to see how Durant kills the deck. Though it may take a while to take out all the Durants, if your careful with your Magnetic Drawing, you'll be fine.

I personally don't think MegaZone is currently good because of a bad weakness to ZPST and TyRam.

Yes, megazone is still a great deck to play but i dont know about it when the ex's come out because it will take alot of energy to take care of them. So what i think is if ex's arnt played too much then yes but if the format becomes realy ex heavy then maby not.

Test the matchup, man. Durant literally does KILL this deck.

Also, it's pretty strong against ZPST in my testing. (MegaZone is lol, not Durant)

Yeah, MegaZone does alright against ZPST.

glaceon, try Durant vs. Megazone. Durant gets the swarm out early and MegaZone can't keep up. You're getting KOs about every other turn, which is a ridiculous amount of time against Durant.

Ex's will not be a problem because its like koing 2 pokemon in one, I take an extra prize. I think durant will be painful though
