Is PokeBeach Dying?

I think some members might have tests they have been taking recently. Studying for them is taking away some of their free time.

What do you mean by not very much activity? I still see a lot of new posts coming.

There's some people I used to see on this site that don't post every once in a while or often anymore. I've been noticing threads for advertisements that pop up when the Mods aren't around late in the morning like 2-3 a.m. and we might be losing members to other forums like http://google.com/ and HeyTrainer.org...

I remember when Lou Cypher used to post Pokemon TCG articles for the Pokemon Metagame here on PokeBeach and there's more articles being posted on other Pokemon websites instead of here like on http://google.com/ and PokeGym where they seem to be getting alot of attention lately, there's like hardly any TCG articles posted on PokeBeach anymore since Lou left for other forums on the internet.

One of the main reasons I post here on PokeBeach is cause I'm always blacklisted on PokeGym, their forums won't let me post on there most of the time but here on PokeBeach they allow me. One of my friends who posts here on PokeBeach also had problems getting blacklisted on PokeGym as well so I'm not the only one.

It seems active to me. Maybe its just because B&W have been released in Japan, so there are less guests.
Members will be very active in the summer for sure.

Yeah that explains it, Black & White hasn't been released outside of Japan yet or maybe they just decided to stick with Gen IV, who knows really. Kind of a shame but yeah...

I hope you were joking about that just now, you know about thinking that I'm dying and throwing a dagger at me part... :(

I hope you were joking about the part where PokeBeach is dying. There is no strikethrough there. :p

The Mods have been separated into specific Forums, so you might see an advertisement thread stay for a while until a Mod from that Forum or a Super Mod can take care of it.

We've probably lost a lot of Members in the last few years, that's not really anything new. I think when the Article Forum was archived, there was definitely a drop in articles, but people are still free to post them in State of the Game. B/W released in Japan definitely contributed to overall posts.

dmaster out.

Yeah, like dmaster said, following the release of B/W in NA/Europe isn't nearly as exciting as the release in Japan, considering we have no more new information to hear about except for English names/dubs.

Members are coming and going, as always. Sure, we've lost quite a few on the way, but the forums are stilll pretty active.

The fourm aren't "dying" at all. It's in the middle of big tests so there is always going to be less activity. Members come and go all the time. It's been like this for year.

Compared to the summer, they are not as active. There were many guests/ new members during the summer because of all of the B/W information that we were getting.

They are still active though, Pokebeach isn't dying, it's just at more normal levels.

heh, the forums are dying? the numbers of active members we have these days are way higher than they were in years past. sure, activity might have waned a little bit, but that is mostly because b/w has now been out for a while. i'd wager a high amount that this summer will have record levels of activity.

as for your "members leaving for other sites" that is an unfortunate reality pokebeach has faced for quite a while now. your average members here is a lot younger on pokebeach than on other forums. (our typical members tend to be middle school aged...on other forums, it's late high school/college age) in a way, some members "outgrow" our forums, and leave for bigger sites like pokegym (tcg) or smogon. (video game)

but of course, as one group of members leave for other forums, another is ready to replace them.

People come and go, come and go. Sure, sometimes we aren't super active, but, it's the start of the year, people have jobs, school, etc. Just because we lost a couple of big guys doesn't mean much. We still have new members every day. And old members rising in popularity, and skill in pokemon as well, we are doing just fine :D

The reason I ask is because I'm not seeing very much activity going on with it lately, what's going on?

Pokebeach is not a 24/7 nonstop fun and excitement venue.

As people have said, after every summer, there is always a slowdown in activity. Then it peaks around Christmas. Then it dies again in January. It should be obvious as to why considering the site's audience's age.

And as a matter of fact, I've had a stats program installed on the site for about four years now and we have only had more and more unique visitors every month. Going by that, this month has had more unique visitors (but not necessarily visits compared to other times of the year) than any other previous month in the site's history. So yeah - we only grow; there has never been a time where we've gotten less unique visitors than previous times.
