Is there a place in this world for Raichu X and Raichu Prime

I know I am probably not the first to think of this but I want to discuss it anyway.

So yesterday I stopped by one of my local Comic Stores and picked up a few packs of SF. Packed out a Raichu LVL X and immediately said I will post this on my trade thread.

However, after getting home and reading it's power I started thinking can this be used with my new Raichu Prime.

First Raichu X

It's Power allows you to use Voltage Shoot and Snipe for 80, while discarding 2 {L} from your hand.

Then you can use another attack of Raichu afterward. Which would be Raichu Prime

For the same {L}{L}{C} you already have on Raichu for Voltage shoot you can now do Mega Thunderbolt to the active.

So an 80 damage Snipe and 120 to the active all in one turn.

Even though this would be very hard to set up a second time it is great for one turn. Especially with Raichu Primes Power to get the electric on to him when you are ready to try this.

Does anyone think this is feasible to use in any deck, especially something that runs {L} already?

Yeah but can you tech this in a deck and use it to grab the final two prize cards.

Or take two important cards out early, like a benched uxie and an active Garchomp?

I don't disagree, but you are missing the point of my question. I am not using Raichu as an attacker all game.

The idea is play your game as usual, with some {L} out there maybe on a Lux or something.

Drop Pika > BTS or Rare Candy to Raichu Prime> Make Active > Drop Raichu X.

Move the {L} energy to Raichu, Voltage Shoot and Mega Thunderbolt all in one turn. You will almost always take out 2 pokemon.

You cannot do that with Raichu HGSS as it doesn't have the poke-power.

But you cant level up the same turn and that kinda defeats the surprise factor....and with that gone..you opponent will pretty much be prepared.

Its a rule...you cant level up the same turn the pokemon comes into play ...

Well i think yes you can but it will be later in the match not like right away i would have two raichu from undatued also because there so quick and they have free retreat while raichu prime is so slow.

Don't feel stupid. He is wrong. With BTS you can level up same turn from my understanding. Ask the professors in ruling and card questions.

No he is correct, if you could use BTS to level-up on the same turn SP decks would be teching in BTS. I am 102% sure you cannot level up on the same turn you play a Pokemon, even when BTS is out, since it is not evolving, it is leveling up.

you COULD use level max, but I really dont like the flippiness factor of it, and I cant think of a deck that can afford to run 4+ lighting energy, 2-2-1 raichu, and some other stuff

These Raichu cards are bad. They have weakness to fighting (Donphan, Machamp, and Toxicroak G Promo) and they take three energy to attack. That is just too slow for competitive play.

And I have to agree with James. With the rotation of Electivire SW, it makes Raichu even bad.

I do think that if something comes out that makes lightning a good deck then these would be good tech cards.

I think ERL is the better surprise attacker to end a match. You can at least get it set up the turn you play him if you have an energy switch or link.

Being a Raichu Fanatic I've piddled with several Raichu X and raichu prime decks.

Sure, SW electivire is gone. But SF raichu with SW electivire proved way too slow to work anyway. And this isn't that much different. You do slightly more damage, but you have no other attacks except those allowed by memory berry. (which is actually a good idea, because it gives raichu prime a 50 damage attack on three energy)

Here are some alternative ideas:
LA Rayquazza. Its flippy, but its MUCH easier to set up. I've pulled off 6 energy in a row before to feed my raichu primes
SF drifblm can fill up your bench with basics and energy attached. Its not the most feasible concept, but its worth a thought.
Staraptor FB X and flint's willpower is workable. search for flint, attach energy to staraptor, move with raichu primes power. Flitzong, but you don't need the bronzong. Staraptor is much more useful than bronzong on your bench.

when lost link comes out, patchirisu will give you the ability to drop 3 energy on a raichu in one turn. Thats probably overall the best idea. And you can pick it back up as much as you need to with hunter. If Raichu prime will ever become a workable deck, its going to be with patchi.

All options that are not Electivire SW are not very consistent energy suppliers. That is how I see it.
The one card that could have made Raichu better than mediocre is yellow Magnezone SF. However, now that his good friend Magnezone DP has found its way to the scrapheap, he's not very playable anymore.
Using Flint's for your energy stream is not viable at all. The only occasion in which I'd EVER use Flint is to quickly recover from a lost Palkia G X/Gallade 4 X since they need a few energy to do anything. And even then, he's not amazing.
So yeah, this card has no potential left in the current format. Maybe he'll get lucky next format, but for now the future is not bright for Raichu Prime.
