Discussion Is Trevenant BREAK useless in Standard?

Hey folks! Last night i managed to finish my Trevenant Break at TCGO :) but to be honest, I'm not a fan of expanded, so I'm trying to fit this deck in standard format, it means I'm using XY9 Trevenant (the one with the energy cost pokepower), but in many battles against a variety of decks (M Mewtwo, Typhlosion, Houndoom, Weezing/Bunelby/Slowking) i can't even get one prize :(
I'm using a deck list based on Raphael Souto's list - ofc updated to play standard format - with silent lab as my main stadium, no battle compressor nor headringer (which would be an amazing combo with xy9 trevenant), oh, and no shaymins beacause i don't have any :p but still, it's easy to get into trevenant stage with phantump's attack.
So, would you guys have some advice to give to play with trevenant break?

Thanks a lot :)

There's a list floating around the deck garage. It uses Bannete to shut down tools, slowing the mega's down without their spirit links. It's pretty fun, I've played it a bit on TCGO and at league. It also uses Espeon EX to unevolve Pokémon, further shutting down Mega's or getting multiple KOs after a few hits of Silent Fear.

Hey, that's a really nice combo :) i'll test with both banettes (but I'm more into the one with pokepower, even if it removes bursting balloon from my decklist). Oh, and i was thinking to test it with aegislash too! Do you think a 2-2-2 line would work fine with 3 Wally?

Personally I find two stage 2 lines in a deck to be too clunky most of the time, but give it a try and see if you like it. Keep in mind I believe level ball will also search out part of the lines, and especially with the alternate Bannette that can evolve instantly you won't need to spend a wally on it.

This type of deck probably won't be tier one, but it's still really fun to play.

Indeed, in my opinion trevenant break was a card made to stop Night March at the last world championship (use the same stadium + 30 damage to each joltik), but with the rotation we need to find an alternative route to play with the XY9 version.

As long as you don't play against a Gabodor build deck, it's playable.

Garbodor is breaking almost all of these 4fun decks. I'm dying to test a toxicroak/ariados/dragalge deck, but it will be a huge fail with garbodor :(

It's breaking some but my deck revolves around Team Magma's Groudon EX w/ Carbink BREAK and it is somewhat fun and semi-competitive. Gabodor is so good stunning Volcanion EX decks and Shaymin EX and other poke abilities, and Team Magma's Groudon EX highly benefits from Garbodor. I play tested with Silent Lab, and it does well but the fact stadiums can be discarded by other stadiums, its troubling for me. So even though Garbodor will get rid of Carbinks abilities, its still good overall. Team Magma Groudon EX is my standard deck for now, I'm just trying to figure the kinks I need to fix. Sorry about Garbodor also lol

Indeed, my main deck is Garchomp, so Garbodor can't affect me since i don't use any pokepower. But now that I reached 3 star rank at TCGO, I'm facing way too overpowered decks that i can't stand a chance even with Garchomp, or my second fav deck - Alakazam EX (I know garbodor can ruin this deck, but it's the funniest deck that i've ever played with!)

RIP Alakazam RIP Korrina RIP Blacksmith. Atleast we dont have to deal with Night March lol

Trev's a mystery to me in standard. In my mind, he should pair very well with Gengar, M Alakazam, and Aegislash. Unfortunately, in reality, I can't even win half of my games with these decks. I even went 1-11 in 12 matches that I tried the Trevenant Aegislash combo.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I just don't think he's competitive in the new meta.
