this magazine coming out on friday contains interviews which will seemingly confirm isshu is based on new york. that debate put to rest!

the circled text reads: "our adventure's setting is new york?!"

opinions? :D

If so it will be nice to have some official confirmation. Frankly, I thought it was fairly obvious from the Football players to Wargle, but hey. Sometimes people need official statements.

So is this the official magazine? For some reason even I can't explain, the magazine just looks... well... plain? I don't know how to describe it. It just doesn't look anything like I imagined. :S

Oh I see - I guess it's probably just a seperate poster advertising the magazine rather than a page inside it. :) A page with a bright yellow background inside the magazine would look weird! XD Thanks for clarifying! :)

finally! I was right! I was scared that it would never be confirmed and we would have an everlasting debate

well, it was posted by pokejungle, but i went around and found the image from other (japanese) sources, so this is legit :) and it's not the actual cover AFAIK, it's just some ad or inside pamphlet. either way, how ugly the ad may or may not be is not the point XD

I believed it was New York too, those american football themed trainers sealed the deal for me.

It's funny looking back at many people who'd laugh in your face if you told them Isshu was based on New York....and then give long winded reasons as to why that would never happen.

Game Freak can make whatever they want happen if they want to. There was never any rule that said they always had to base a region on a japanese area.

in b4 this gets locked: im supprised it took this long to be confirmed if it really is
i was about to think it was shanghai untill the liberty ticket and football player was shown, then i had no doubt

Yeah, I'm not too surprised it turned out to be based off of New York- there was just too much evidence to support it opposed to the evidence against it.

I don't really understand why Isshu being based off anywhere is a point of interest. I mean, it's just a place. Aspects from different parts of the world are brought into games. It doesn't really affect game play. If it makes the game more fun, then by all means, go ahead.

Also, I don't think GameFreak would just say, "Oh we based this place off of so and so" So I'm iffy about the magazine, imo.

they have said it before though, and it's a point of interest because they've said the other regions are all based on places in japan (yes, they have!). they've even given specific towns and such (vermilion = yokohama, etc).

that's what the point of interest is - that for once it's not japan-based :) doesn't change the game much beyond that it is another aspect of BW having some very unique things about it.

Well if you see on the magazine near the bottom you can see a Torchic silhouette and the magazine looks plain.

I by no means disagree with this theory, but could someone explain how isshu looks even vaguely simiar to ne york?

Oh, I think I understand. I've heard that other regions were based on just places. Such as the Jungles/Rainforests being Hoenn, Sinnoh being Canada because of the region being cold, so I didn't see how this was really any different. I understand why everyone is so exicted about it now.

Hopefully this will make the game more fun for everyone who can identify with the places seen. Although I have never been to NewYork, I think it'll be fun for me.

Finally, some confirmation. I am glad the where-is-Isshu-war will finally be over.

^That's how. :)

Amazing how nowadays everyone jumps on anything and say it looks fake; even though this is totally confirmed basically, and makes sense.

I always expected this, it is TERRIBLY relieving that it is confirmed now; it was a bit stressful with the debating.
