Japan's XY10 Set: 'Awakening of Psychic Kings,' Alakazam!

What would you rather have: An uncandiable Stage 3 that is even harder to get out, or a Stage 1 that requires an energy attachment and discard (Pyroar PHF)?

Most of the time I find myself perfectly ok with my supply of Lysandre...

That's exactly what I thought as soon as I saw the card. It actually wouldn't be bad under certain circumstances.
 
I really don't like Break cards...

I've actually wanted an Omastar EX card since I was little (love the dude), so this was rather... disappointing.
 
Well they made Greninja Break viable thanks to really good/decent pre-evolutions. Depending on the fossil support, new fossils, basic omanyte, and the other fossil lines - its still possible this could be ok. If Kabutops is the far better card, then Omastar Break would be at most a 1 of - with Omastar acting like that old gabite
 
Whilst I'm not 100% sure how competitive this will be, I think this Omastar could be seriously fun, especially if we get some fossil support again in this set!

And Omastar BREAK, again I cant see it being toooooo competitive, but every BREAK Pokemon so far has been so much fun, I really hope TPCi keep up with this concept of giving some light to some more of the under appreciated Pokemon out there.
 
I've raised some question about what this set could still have in store for fossil pokemon (if any).

Will Kabutops be the EX killer with a cheap attack like the recent Garchomp? Especially if water type and paired with Omaster line in this set.

Will we see a different specialist fossil supporter card? Fossil researcher is specific to Amaura and Tyrunt. Generalising this supporter to any basic fossil pokemon would've been better.

Perhaps a return to how fossil cards used to be played in DP era? Or will we continue to look at bottom seven cards of deck to play.
 
Breaks that evolve from Stage 2s like Chestnaught and Greninja typically have more than 140 hp, so I don't think Omanyte becoming Basic is impossible; its hp would make more sense then, though its ability is strong. Here's to hoping!
 
You guys must obviously forget how good the effect is. People will no doubt play it alongside its regular form and Archie's Ace in the Hole. If someone had the opportunity to use a free Lysandre or Pokémon Catcher EVERY turn on an EX, they would go for it in a HEART BEAT!! Watch out for this paired with our already popular decks out there because they will be testing this Pokémon, and it does have potential.
 
Sweeet! Those are two FAs I'm definitely going to hope for. :D This is shaping up to be such a fun set.
 
I can also see Glaceon being played with Bats and the reprinted Devolution Spray to abuse both of its attacks.
