Hi
In a local tournament a Jirachi hits with 10 a pokemon an knocked out him with his first attack, the first attack says that Jirachi must discard an special energy but he knocked out the opponent's pokemon so the effect is still viable?
I think that everything happens in the same time so the effect is viable but we want a second opinion.
Thanks

This is a great order of operations question, so I'm going to give you a little more information than you asked for :) When attacking, the following steps are followed in order:

1. Calculate base damage (e.g. coin flips, deciding to discard Energy for extra damage)
2. Effects on the attacking Pokemon (Muscle Band)
3. Weakness
4. Resistance
5. Effects on the Defending Pokemon (Hard Charm)
6. Apply damage
7. Any other effects of attacks (discard Energy from your own Pokemon or the opponent's Pokemon, discard Stadiums or Tools, etc)
8. Check for Knock Outs

In your example, the 10 damage is applied, then the Special Energy is discarded triggering the protective effect of Stardust, THEN the Defending Pokemon is Knocked Out. You get the effect because it happens before the Knock Out.
