If they don't keep the EX Pokemon, they'll replace them with something else. I have mixed feelings about them, really. On one hand, they are rarer than other cards, except shinies, so it always feels great when you see that special holo within a new pack. On the other hand, most of them aren't worth the 2 prize drawback and some people rely WAY too much on them *coughcoughLSBcoughcough*.
But I disagree when you say that Unlimited took strategy and not one-hit KOs. On the contrary. Unlimited decks consisted of x4 Gust of Winds, x4 Computer Search, x4 Item Finders, and x4 Bills nearly 90% of the time. Don't forget honorable mentions like Super Energy Removal, Chaos Gym, and the Neo Genesis Slowking. All broken cards, and your strategy never really worked out because a simple GoW screwed the whole game up. It still was "whoever goes first wins."
I think they should keep the ex's AND do something else. Most likely they will not take away a game mechanic that big, simply because it would drive too many players away. But they will probably do something else. We'll just have to wait and see.
