King Articundurus (Kingdra / Articuno EX / Thundurus EX)

I made this deck because I love the idea to paralyze without flipping coins, also damage in the bank is always welcome. Even though I have a 9/10 win ratio with friends I'm a bit concerned about it would be real competitive in tournaments.

Pokemon: 22

  • 2 Articuno EX
    2 Thundurus EX
    1 Keldeo EX
    3 Rotom PLS
    3 Kangaskhan PLB
    2-2-2 Kingdra PLF
    2-2-1 Blastoise BCR

Trainers: 20

  • 4 Ultra Ball
    4 Professor's Letter
    2 Colress Machine
    2 Shadow Triad
    4 Cheren
    2 Colress
    1 Scramble Switch
    1 Switch

Energy: 18

  • 9 Water
    6 Lightning
    3 Plasma

Strategy:

This deck has a lot of options, but mainly the goal is to bring Articuno EX to the bank with ultra ball by discarding energies and Thundurus EX fast energizing it. Rotom act as a backup to have the cards you need in your hand, by discarding a Lightning Energy and drawing 3 cards.
Also Kangaskhan can be a backup in start hand if there is not other option to bring the basics to the bank.

You can have almost all your deck in your hand with Rotom + Cheren + Professor's Letter what means many energies in hand to use Blastoise ability to help fill itself, Keldeo EX and Articuno EX.

Due to the mentioned above, I run Colress to not lose by deck-over and...
Kingdra to retrieve the energies lost, doing massive damage in the process.

Articuno EX can deal 80 damage with 4 energies, if there is a Plasma Energy attached, it paralyzes the defending pokémon, it also can deal 60 damage with 3 energies plus 10 to all pokémon in opponent's bank.

Kingdra and Blastoise are to defend against Pyroar and Safeguard.

Scramble Switch can fill Keldeo EX with energies on Articuno EX or Blastoise and vice-versa.

Dedenne can be a better option than kangaskhan if u want a pokemon for call for family, it retreats for the energy you attached for the attack and can be a good attacker too. Also why 222 and 221 lines?

I got two Dedennes yesterday I didn't read its description, but now I agree it is a better choice.
Kingdra line is because I don't have Rare Candy yet and Blastoise, to be honest, I barely use it or even Keldeo EX. I put those just to fill gap.

Nice to see someone working with Articuno EX, I've been trying to build a couple decks based around him. I'll give you some tips to make it more competitive, but I realise that you're likely to not have access to everything I'm recommending.

Okay, lets see. The Blastoise line seems quite unnecessary. You already have an alternate way of accelerating energy, which in my opinion is much better in this deck (Thundurus-EX). You mention that you use him as an answer to safeguard and intimidating mane, but using a stage 2 Pokemon in order to do so will not be very beneficial in the long run, since they can bring out a new one much quicker than you can. That's why I think you should remove both your Blastoise and Kingdra lines. As a replacement attacker against those threats, I'd recommend you put in a 2-2 line of a hard hitting stage 1 water Pokemon, such as Beartic FRF.

Next, paralysing your opponent is great, but once you knock something out, the paralysis will be negated, and the opponent can start attacking again. So why not add Dusknoir BCR, to keep moving damage away from the opposing active Pokemon, keeping it alive?

While Rotom seems nice, you will likely fall behind from using him, as giving up a prize card (Which is likely to happen with such a fragile Pokemon) is usually not worth it just to draw three cards. I think Electrode PLF would be a better option, as you get to refill your hand every turn without wasting your attack. I'd also add another Articuno EX, to decrease the chances of them all ending up in the prizes, and in case two of them would be knocked out.

Moving on to the trainers, this deck thrives on the discarding power Juniper/Sycamore provides (Play your items and Pokemon, discard your energies to refresh your hand, move them to your bench with Thundurus), so I would add 4 to the deck. Cheren is a decent card, but underwhelming compared to other supporters, such as N. Although, as I just said, it still is a decent card, so I don't see any problem with keeping a few in your deck. You may also want a Lysandre to bring up any Keldeo EX to the active spot, to stop them from removing the status conditions. I'd probably get rid of a few of the Professor's Letters, and put in some more switching cards (Or possibly a Glaceon PLF, but your bench is already quite crowded), can't have enough of those in plasma decks.

And finally, I'd slightly lower the energy count, as you quite easily can get them back from the discard as you need them. Might also want to consider some rainbow energies, though I'm not entirely sure how useful those will be in the new format.

Ow!!! I love the idea of Paralyze + Dusknoir thanks!
I'm on the way to get Lysandre.
