kirby epic yarn

I'm sorry, but that game looks terrible. It's barely a Kirby game.

You're made of yarn and you can't eat things, instead using some loose thread thing to change the stage and move around the level? It sounds really gimmicky, like it should be a WiiWare game. Why couldn't we just have a Kirby where you can EAT things for the Wii?

:/

(I've seen the trailer, so I may be missing something)

It looks like it'll follow Kirby's Canvas Curse in spirit, in that it has him move in an unusual way and not eat anything. If that turns out to be the case, I want it to be as difficult.

It's been 10 long years since Kirby64, a game I played religiously when I was 9 or 10 (and still love today). Seriously, any home console kirby game is good for me... I've been waiting for so very long.

About the game itself: the yarn gimmicky actually seems kinda cool, and the art style is absolutely adorable :3
The swinging instead of sucking thing does strike me as rather odd, but it seems to add some fun gameplay elements, so we'll see.

Also, easily the biggest and most welcome surprise of E3 for me.

I was very surprised at the Kirby announcement. I was even more surprised that there was no sucking though. Still, it looks like a fantastic and unique game, and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I think it's a good move for the series. Just because it doesn't exactly match our memories of N64 Kirby doesn't mean that it's necessarily going to be bad; in fact, according to the various hands-on reports, it plays very well and is ultra charming and fun.

What's stupid to think is, if they had just kept it like the N64, some would've griped about it being too similar, nothing new, blah. And now some gripe because it's too different. Bah, I really hate fanhate. This is the first Kirby in seven years, people, particularly fans, should be open to anything at this point.

But mini-rant aside, this was a pleasant surprise indeed :>

As much as I like Kirby Air Ride (the only multiplayer NGC game I still often play with friends), I don't think it really counts as a "kirby game". It's like how Mario kart is technically a Mario game, but still...
It's really been "over 10 years" since the last new actual Kirby experience on a home console, that's a decade, Kirby 64 predates 9/11, think about it.
As someone who grew up with Kirby more than with Mario or Link (although Mario is a very close second), this really is huge to me.

Not that I'm getting my hopes up ;)

I've been waitning a long time for a Kirby game to come out for Wii, and this looks... rather FUN!!! It's a really odd gameplay that looks really fun, and I can't wait to play it

The gameplay is a welcome change that the series needs IMO. If it was just sucking like every other Kirby game, it'd be boring. This allows the game to have a really cool art style and will be one of the most unique platformers this year (not counting SMG2).

dmaster out.

Personally, I think that this is weird. I mean, when has Kirby just been a piece of yarn? It's kind of creepy. The game does look cool though...

I love the style, and the gameplay looks awesome. Very unique overall IMO.

Since the Japanese Kirby's Adventure commercial. Yarn Kirby is THAT old school.

Anyways, just wanna say Kirby's core gameplay - minus him flying - is still the same, despite him losing his inhale: grab your enemies and toss them at other enemies. That's how Kirby defeated enemies since Kirby's Dreamland, so I'm fine with the change.

This game looks interesting. What I was really looking forward to is having the GC Kirby game that never came out be placed as the Kirby Wii game, since the GC Kirby actually looked good. But Epic Yarn has some very nice designs, very Paper Mario-ish, and looks pretty fun.
