Will update the OP when I'm at home and I can find the event link, but I can give basic info.

Date: January 18-19, 2014
Registration Time: 7.30AM-8.45AM on Saturday (for TCG); 8.30AM-9.45AM on Sunday (for VG)
Location: Long Beach Convention Center (NOT the Queen Mary, but it is near to there)

TCG will be on Saturday. VGC and TCG Masters top-cut will be on Sunday. If there are enough Masters remaining (i.e. not very many drops), there will be a 2nd day of Swiss for the top 25% (or so) before the top-8 cut.
Admission for TCG for Masters is $20; there are no other entry fees.

Please note this is mostly from memory, and experience with past events, so a few things may be off, but it's mostly accurate.

I will be going there as a judge. More likely than not, it will be the final OP event I will ever attend, before vanishing from the scene.

Link for VG Regionals: https://www.pokemon.com/us/account/play-pokemon-tournaments/14-01-000143/

For the people that didn't make it into TCG top cut, or don't want to play in VG, there will be a Cities on Sunday, run as a side event (https://www.pokemon.com/us/account/play-pokemon-tournaments/14-01-000031/), similar to how a League Challenge was run on Sunday for NorCal Regionals. Admission for that is $10 for Masters, and free for lower divisions, and will be run just like any other Cities.

The registration for Cities will be 9AM to 9.45AM on Sunday.

Long Beach, California.
Is there any other Long Beach?

...if you figured it was in California anyway, why bother asking?
To get back on topic, do you plan on going?

No, sorry. I live in NJ and it would have been a convenience if it were in NY and not in Mass...or California.

The OP has been updated with links to the events as found on Pokemon.com itself. There is also going to be a Cities (held as a side event) on Sunday.

I was incorrect about the registration time. I have fixed it accordingly.

Hello, I will be attending. I was wondering if their are only going to be Pokemon X and Y battles? I plan on bringing my GBA and all my games for trading and battling random people. I have never been to a Pokemon event before. Is there anything else you can tell me about the past events they have had in So Cal? Thank you.

The tournament itself will require the use of X and Y, on top of other regulations beyond that (Kalos Dex only this year, but everything else is the same), though you are always free to bring along older games and play them for fun or with other people if you wish, if you can find any takers.

One of my Christmas presents was a trip to this (with four family members.) I will be there.

Tomorrow is the big day.

I'll be there late (around 10am) since I have an early morning orientation to go to first (which is at 8am) but I will be seeing the rest of you there, presumably. I'll be judging in Masters on Saturday, and I'm not sure about Sunday.

As many of you know, I was at Regionals all weekend. I was there for 12 hours on Saturday (10 to 10) and 15 hours on Sunday (7.30 to 10.30). I shall now share the highlight of my entire weekend.

It's Sunday morning, and there's this gigantic line coming in for VGC. I am pretty sure the line had at least 1000 people - competitors, friends, family, and people there to hang out and/or side events. There were so many people it was insane.

I was originally going to help with Masters top cut that day, but Chrisbo said he had enough people and didn't need me for it. (Later I went and helped judge the Cities we did that day.) So until then, I planted myself in the lobby doing "concierge duty", which basically means fielding questions such as "where do I go to sign up for X", "where is the X being held", and "which way is the bathroom?" (I found out later where the bathrooms were as I kept forgetting.)

However, the best question by far came from a mother. She comes up to me and says "My son just bought a fish for fifty dollars."
Confused, I just echo "...a fish for fifty dollars?" hoping to FISH for more information (dohohoho).
She then says "Yes, some kind of magic carp..."
(it was one of these)

At this point everything in my brain clicks and I'm trying my hardest not to crack up in front of this woman as I'm getting flashbacks to James on the SS Anne with that salesman. Maintaining a straight face, she then asks me if it was indeed worth 50 dollars. I said it was, since it was from a limited-time distribution in Japan and only a certain number were made (which is all true). She's satisfied with my explanation, thanks me, and goes off. (Later I shared said story with the rest of the staff at the end of the day. They all loved it.)

The same vendor who sold said Golden Magikarp also had a life-size one hanging up on the wall for...I think $200. No one bought it, but it was there. But that story, by far, was the best part of my weekend. The second-best part was during Cities top cut, when some guy got deck-checked and had to replace the Superior Energy Retrievals with normal ones, but there was more to the story than that.

More details of my weekend are available upon request.

Edit: also I met Puff-Sun and saw blargh too, I guess

I did mediocre with Darkrai/Garbodor. For me the most disappointing part about that is that Hammertime, which I have run all season, was very, VERY good for the Regionals meta (all three of its good matchups were heavily played) and I decided against it.
Oh well, it was fun.
