Pokemon Loss in Originality

They've officially stated that they're rabbits I'm sure. I can't remember where. Long ears, like to bounce a lot?

LOL. It didn't really strike me that plusle and minun were based on rabbits, but now that i look at them more carefully, they really do resemble a bit. The long ears part anyway.

Back in the old days, Nintendo could still come up with pokemon like Alakazam. Alakazam was a really original idea. Now look, They already had a turtle starter, namely Squirtle, but they made Turtwig, yet another turtle. They definitely lost their originality in DP, they added a lot of Stage 2 pokemon, like Rhyperio, Magmortar and Electivire, which aren't necessary. Whatever happened to the Nintendo I knew? Where will they get their insight?
same thing happend to yugioh

hmm...well yeah. but we will all get over it. i hope they make pokemons out of those "missing" animals..

i agree with the origianl statement. there are some pretty unoriginal pokemon out there!! another example is geodude, its a rock with arms!!! oooo creative! But I think they should also make some more practical pokemon as well. I mean what causes geodude to defy gravity? but then again maybe thats the fun of it.

Nintendo are either getting lazy or have no new ideas. I don't blame them. 400+ original Pokemon is a hard one to accomplish. Plus, they have to make sure they have no slightest hint of coping another series or pokemon.

Although, if they want really original ideas, they should hold a contest for kids to enter to create the next lot of pokemon.

I totally agree. I do not like the fourth generation of Pokemon at all. I think they should have never did it and continued with the third generation episodes a bit longer.

what!! u dont want them to create new ones??
i wont say that the 4th gen. in whole was that attractive, bt some of 'em r not that bad- stunky, croagunk, starly-line, bidoof, buizel-line all r quite good and looks original enough. to be honest i was only disappointed with the legenderies. all of them are sooooo un-pokemon like!!

Don't dis the 4th Gen Bbran ! Sure, they had some ugly Pokemon, but some of those ugly Pokemon are unique !

In regards to a fifth generation, there won't be one to the best of my knowledge. Don't hold me to anything, but don't be shocked when the show ends with the 4th generation.

Also, I think originality isn't the problem, its the fact that a lot of the Pokemon aren't as unique as they used to be. I mean, come on, is there anywhere else you will find a rock with arms that floats?

They might make more seasons, but I'm not to expectant about another generation...

I guess I'm not used to it. When the third generation episodes started I didn't really get into it since they changed it by taking out Misty. The third generation Pokemon in general I like though. When the fourth generation came out I wasn't ready for it and didn't like it. I don't like the episodes or the Pokemon from it. The Pokemon originality in the fourth generation is horrible. There hasn't been an evolved form of Electabuzz or Magmar for 11 years, except for Magby and Elekid which evolve into them, so I think that some of the Pokemon they made were unnecassary.

They should still continue on the pokemon series! i do think the contest thing is a good idea, maybe not for all of a new gen but for a maybe a couple. I no i have some good ideas and im sure u guys do too. i think the new anime kinda stinks. I mean the barely do anything in each episode.

I'm surprised that there are so many. When I first knew Diamond and Pearl was coming out I never thought I could remember them all. It's bound to get harder and harder when the new Pokemon come out, I mean there's already 493.

The most popular games out now are usually a concept which has been used so much it gets boring IMO, but people still play it and think those games are the best. pokémon has always been the most original game to me, they are a little bit less original, and suddenly it becomes terrible? The so-maniest shooter comes out with the same gameplay and looks as almost all the others, the so maniest WWII game, galactic whatever game, robots whatever game comes out, nobody complains. Electabuzz actually becomes usable thanks to the fact that they gave it an awesome-looking evolution, and everybody starts complaining, Pokémon like drifblim, toxicroak, heatran, giratina, etc. aren't good enough anymore, but when Rhyhorn, seaking, charmander, persian and butterfree came out, Pokémon was the best game ever. You guys have become way to picky, gen4 is as good, if not better, than all the other gens, people just want too much and feel like they need to complain about everything.

I like Gen 4, it reminds me of Gen 2, in that it's a new game, it's fun, and the new Pokémon are cool and refreshing compared to the last one. Which is more than I can say for Gen 3.

YA i think gen 4 is really good too, I think Gen 2 whas my favorite and gen 4 reminds me alot of that so overall i think its good.
