Lucario CL Help

I've been toying with the Lucario from Call of Legends as an answer to massive amount of LuxChomp played in my area. I Even went as far as to build a deck around it but seems slow to move. the thought is this Lucario CL + Absol Prime/Relicanth CL + Smeargle CL/UD

The idea is to Lost Zone Pokemon for Lucario CL's Dimension Sphere attack. after extensive play testing with an initial build the Pokemon line up i have come up with so far is this:

3-3 Lucario CL
2 Absol Prime
2 Smeargle UD/CL
2 Relicanth CL
4 Spritomb AR
2-2 Noctowl HS

The idea with the build is to have a deck that will avoid rotation completely since we know that between 4-7 packs will be rotated out, and yet have something consistent enough that it wont have to change much in the upcoming Black and White format.

Scince the point of this deck is to power up Dimension Sphere quickly, draw power is needed as well as a fast Lucario set up. For this we use Relicanth or Absol.

Absol is obviously a good choice as it hits for 70 (+10 for each Special Darkness Energy on it) and puts one Pokemon in your hand into the Lost Zone. With its DARK typing, Absol easily becomes a Gengar counter as well.

Relicanth is also a good choice, how ever not as good as Absol, allowing the player to draw 3 cards and Lost Zone a Pokemon for 1 energy.

well now that the theory part of this is out of the way, what flaws do you guys see with this, what would you do differently and what would you use as support?

I already see the energy line up going as:

4 DCE
4 Fighting
2 Special Darkness
2 Cyclone
2 Call

As you said, Absol > Relicanth so -2 Relicanth +2 Absol
Since you are running basics and a stage 1, spiritomb is not needed. Consider bumping up to 4 Smeargle or 4 Sableye for a lead. Get an unown q for sure so you can free retreat that lead and start hitting with absol turn 2. Uxie and Azelf are also musts in this format. Make sure you beef up all pokemon lines. A high pokemon count is needed to ensure you have pokemon to throw into the lost zone and pokemon to keep fighting with. Another card to consider is mew prime. I run a deck similar to this and I throw a Lucario into the lost zone on purpose so I can have a basic Lucario if I need him.

As for your energy, I don't understand the fighting energy. You only need Lucario's first attack which is {C}{C} to use. The 4 DCE are perfect for that reason. Bump up your dark/special dark energy. You want to make sure Absol can attack. Call energy are cool. I personally don't run them but they can work well if you lead absol turn 1 and can't quite attack yet. I feel the same way about the cyclone energy as well.

For T/S/S...or trainers now I guess... staples are the way to go. Bebe's, pokemon collector, pokemon communication, PONT, etc.

Hope this helps!

thanks alot - had some issues with the relicanth and waiting on more absol's. im not a huge fan of Uxie/Azelf as i play tested them in a current build (this deck) and dont do so hot. the tombs are in there really more for trainer lock and once the new rules take affect april 25th it'll lock down everything due to the fact that "Trainer" is going to aplpy to to every thing (supporters/trainers/stadiums) assuming they dont do what they did in japan and do an early rotation up to heartgold.

the fighting are in there cuz im thinkin of running a couple of copies of Energy Search and energy Exchange so that in the off shot that i DONT set up with DCs available i can search and swap out when i do need them.

but im going to take everything else to heart here, thanks! there is alot to work out and i appreciate the help :D

Actually, all cards printed before the rule change that say Trainers are going to be treated as saying Trainer - Goods. Spiritomb will not lock supporters or stadiums.

i just got my hands on one of the new decks (the Fire one) and anything that is a support is being called trainer - Supporter. there was a whole thing on the main page about the BW rule changes.

heres the link http://pokebeach.com/#black-white-rule-changes

anything other than a pokemon or energy card are now going to be called trainers - just like in the good old days

but cards printed before the changes are going to be considered errata'd to say Trainer- Goods, so Vileplume and Spiritomb will not lock Supporters or Stadiums.

not to turn this into a huge debate, but if you read the link in my previous post you would have seen:

Card Types

Trainer, Supporter, and Stadium cards are changing with the B&W expansion. Poke Ball is now a Trainer - Item card. Previous expansions' Supporter cards are now Trainer - Supporter and the Stadium cards are now Trainer - Stadium. Since the wording dealing with these cards has recently changed, you should know how these cards work together if you are using cards that express the same concept differently.

Trainer cards from Diamond & Pearl through Call of Legends should be considered Trainer - Item.

Supporter cards from Diamond & Pearl through Call of Legends should be considered Trainer - Supporter.

Stadium cards from Diamond & Pearl through Call of Legends should be considered Trainer - Stadium.

Any cards that reference those card types should change accordingly as well. For example, if a card from those sets says, "Search your deck for a Trainer card..." you should now read that card as saying "Search your deck for an Item card..." since Trainer cards are now know as Trainer - Item cards.

the only thing being errated are specific cards - Rare candy, Potion, Great Ball, Plus Power

All cards referencing Trainer cards in the past now refers to Trainer - Items. So Vileplume, Spiritomb, etc. now locks Trainer - Items. I'm very sure TCPI wouldn't errata like 80 cards when they could just change the ruling on them.

thanks for clarifing that Gliscor - I was certain that spiritomb would affect the new cards - i didnt think that they would distinguesh between trainer types for the pokebody after B/W Rules took affect.

so any suggestions? is this a competitive build with the chomp decks running wild? is it an autoloss to lostworld decks
