Lugia a water type?

It's not as if Lugia is the only Pokemon with traits that differ from the games... Look at the DP-on Seels' weaknesses. ;p Odds are that certain mistakes were made early on in the games that couldn't be corrected. Though Lugia could just be a case of "It should really be 3 types, but we can only make it 2". The TCG is a lot easier to "update". Changing types on things doesn't break the game here as it would in the games. There's a reason only 2 (well, 3 if you count the alt. Rotom forms) have ever changed type. And even then, two only added one.

I don't know, I just found it weird. And it's not like it happens often(torkoal and lugia being the only ones that have been mention. I don't count the delta species since it was a mechanic in the game.) But I sort of agree with the guy who said it was due to the energies, it would of been weird to have ho-oh on one and lugia not be on one.

Ho-oh has a single colourless card (2 if you count crystal type) despite the fact that it's part flying, vs. Lugia's massive library of colourless cards (and psychic) for it's part flying type. TCG is just odd and awesome that way, and much more flexible in that respect. Heck, take a look at Stunfisk's most recent card in Red Collection: it's in the fighting type category due to it's part typing but also uses electric energy instead.

Now that's flexibility.

@viper.fox I never read the Torkoal pokedex entries, hence never realized that their were there were references to mine or mountain digging. That would explain the Fighing (ie Rock) card for Torkoal. It's as paper thin as Lugia being a water type because of his role in Pokemon 2000, but it does work. It's not like Pokemon is the only card game with paper thin reasonings for a cards existence. By the way, personally I don't count Crystal Pokemon as officially typed.
