Strategy

This is a deck that I'm helping a friend make. The strategy for this deck is to come out swinging hard and fast with Lugia Ex powered up by Deoxys Ex. Snorlax is there to help against Safeguard Pokemon. Porygon-Z to help move Plasma energy around and keep it on the field as much as he can. After some play testing, the Porygon-Z line has been useless and hasn't been able to be set up. Problems can also arise when Lugia being the main attacker has to use two of the precious Plasma energy to 2hko an opposing EX Pokemon. Right now we're looking to remove the Porygon-Z line as well as the rare candy and I'm looking to add some Pokemon and basic energy to snipe the bench and set up Pokemon to be ko'ed by Lugia.

My recommendation would be to drop the Porygon line as well as the Rare Candies and 1 other card(snorlax?) to just put in a 4-4 Cofagrigus 6ft Under to get some easier 1hkos.

N really loses its power if you have Lugia knocking out EXs taking three prizes. Sure, it's nice in the first few turns, but you have so many supporters in here. Colress, Juniper, and Skyla have far more power in this kind of deck, might want to switch N for Colress, especially with that many Plasma Balls. Only recommendation I really have. Like the deck idea. :]

If you're worried about Lugia wasting Plasma energies to 2HKO EX's, run some Pluspowers. Boosts it to 170 or 180 (if you play 2 in one turn) with 4 Deoxys. Maybe cut down to 2 Rare Candy, 3 Juniper, 2 N, and 2 Tool Scrapper to run those 4. N really loses its power if you have Lugia knocking out EXs taking three prizes. EDIT: Just looked this up, you might want to run some Bangles as well to attach to Lugia to get an extra 30 vs. EXs. Make it that much more comfortable. :]

PlusPower is not in the Next Destinies-On format.

EX's can't use Silver Bangle.... yeah....so....

If losing Plasma Energies is such a problem, why not just up Shadow Triad to 4? You can use it to get back most of your Trainers/Pokemon. I tried a Lugia Deck, and more often than not I used Shadow Triad to get back either a Plasma Energy or Colress Machine (make sure to pay attention to how many Energy is in your Deck and not prized when searching), and it allowed me to do back to back Plasma Gales with Lugia. Heck I had a game where I started with Colress Machine, Triad, Lugia, Plasma Energy, I used Triad to recycle Colress and donked with a turn 1 Plasma Gale.

And maybe some Basic Energy? Cobalion/Enhanced Hammers will really hurt you with all Specials, especially with only 8 AND with Lugia discarding..

So far, we've made the following changes:

-2 Porygon
-2 Porygon-Z
-3 Rare Candy
+1 Snorlax PLS
+2 Landorus EX BCR
+4 Prism Energy

I personally like using Fighting Energy over the Prism to reduce reliance on Special Energy, but he likes the Prism so he can attack with Deoxys. Landorus is there to get that extra little bit of damage spread around to help Lugia get KO's on EX's. Snorlax is the best non-EX I've found that fits into this deck, though I'd be interested to see if anyone has any other suggestions to replace him. I have to agree on the usage of N's. Lugia will hopefully be taking Prizes pretty quickly, so we could drop N in favor of Colress and maybe another Shadow Triad. I'd like to fit in a few consistency cards to help get an early Landorus so that damage gets on the board early. If using basic Fighting, we could throw in an Energy Search to get him his energy. I'd also like to fit 1 or 2 Heavy Balls so he can come out early. Just not sure what to take out for them.

Also, we considered Cofagrigus, but we don't really like giving up that prize. I feel it kinda offsets the prize exchange benefit you get with Lugia.
