LuxChomp counters? What can beat clearly the most dominant deck in the format?

Ambipom g and toxicroak promo

That would almost work if I ran SPs but with those two you risk them getting stuck out but, I know they will work 90% of the time. The other problem is getting the Toxicroak promo. ;)

Donphan tech in Gyarados or even in most eveolution decks however relicanth can also be good. For Garchomp, if you run DCE, definitely use ambipom G.

Good idea I will serously concider it but, how exactly does relicanth work what if they don't play any tools because of it?

Well that is the magic of relicanth. You can surprise them since it isnt widely used. With all the e-gains, e-belts and unown Gs, you will definitely OHKO a luxray lv X. The only reason I would use donphan prime is in gyarados as you have warp energy, BTS etc.

Also Donphan is much more solid than Relicanth. It cant be OHKO back by the garchomp and simply SSU and your happy :)

I don't like donphan for space reasons =/ also a phanpy start will kill you...

while I agree with not using Donphan as a tech...the Phanpy start isn't a killer, and odds are, most times you won't start with it...however, the scrambling of having to get Phanpy and Donphan in play, makes using Donphan as a tech an unattractive idea, imo

you'd be better off running a good Donphan variant or Plox

Urm if you play Gyarados, you have 4 warp and 4 SSU. Surely you can retreat using one of them? At least then you have a pokemon that can survive a hit and can deal a decent 60 or even 80. If it is that bad then it wouldnt have won a state, yet it did.

I put my opinion there as well.

dmaster out.

IMO Flychamp, Machamp hit luxray for weakness, (or take out) and flygon can snipe luxray or hit Garchomp for weakness

yea, but if you put it that way, Donphan variants won more states than G-dos...and you then have numerous pokemon that deal 60-80 (maybe more depending on your TSS line)

Im an trying to defend my point of donphan being decent in gyarados. I understand that as a counter a donphan deck may work just as well. Its obviously his choice but I am giving him one of the options he may want...

however, FlyChamp is more steps behind LuxChomp (in terms of speed) than a player would like...getting those two set up before LuxChomp has a field day with your bench, would require most of the random game start things to be in your favor, and then you have to play essentially a flawless game
