I've been playing competitive VGC for a few years and was thinking of getting into the TCG. I liked the mega tyranitar and just happened to pull two from some packs i bought the other day. Found several variants of this deck and put together my own. I have no idea what trainer/item cards to play and dont know if this deck is even viable.

Pokemon (20)

  • 3 M Tyranitar EX (AO)
  • 3 Tyranitar EX (AO)
  • 3 Crobat (PF)
  • 3 Golbat (PF)
  • 3 Zubat (PF)
  • 3 Yveltal (XY)
  • 2 Shaymin EX (RS)
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums (30)
  • 4 Float Stone
  • 2 Battle Compressor
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 1 Level Ball
  • 3 Tyranitar Spirit Link
  • 4 Professor Sycamore
  • 2 Delinquent
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 4 Professor's Letter
  • 4 Super Scoop Up
Energy (10)
  • 7 Darkness Energy
  • 3 Double colorless Energy
Strategy:

The point of this deck is to play the bats to put a few damage counters on the opponents pokemon so destroyer king on M TTar can one shot everything. Yveltal will accelerate darkness out of the discard pile on to the TTar. ive thought about swapping shaymin for hoopa so i can get my tyranitar out sooner. Like i said i had no idea what to do for trainers so i gave it a shot. Thoughts?

I think this would be a better decklist:

Pokemon:(18)

x3 M Tyranitar EX
x3 Tyranitar EX
x3 Yveltal
x3 Zubat
x2 Golbat
x2 Crobat
x1 Shaymin EX
x1 Hoopa EX

Energy: (11)

6 Dark
4 DCE
1 Dangerous Energy

Trainers: (31)

x3 Professer Sycamore
x2 Judge
x2 Lysander
x4 VS Seeker
x3 Spirit Link
x3 Battle Compresser
x2 Mega Turbo
x2 switch
x1 Float Stone
x4 Ultra Ball
x1 Level Ball
x2 AZ
x1 Letter

Parts of your deck I disagree with:

3-3-3 Bats:

This is a little thick. I doubt you will have to use 3 of each. If you do, you have most likely won't be able to win. You can just knock out 3 EXs with the bats. If you're not knocking out an EX, no point using a bat on it. 3-2-2 is all you will need to win.

4 Super Scoops:

Again if you're using a bunch of bats, the game will be very hard to win.

2 Delinquent:

This isn't too bad of card in here. I could see one. But you need the cards in your deck so that you can get set up. I also don't think it matters too much if they
do have their stadium.

4 Float Stone:

4 is just too much. 1 or 2 is a good number.

4 Letters:

No matter what deck your playing only play 1 if any.

Cards I added:

+2 Judge:

You want to disrupt your opponents hand, force them to redraw lysander. You're opponent lysandering out your mega and hitting it could be the difference between a win and a loss. Also you need more draw in the deck.

+1 compresser:

I added an extra one because it is so important.

+4 VS Seeker:

This card is good. Period.

The rest is pretty basic stuff. Hope this helps.

I've actually made a deck of this myself, don't run 4 letters,2 max. Run some Az for safe scoop and only a 3-3 bat line max. Run 2 hoopas, they are the only way you're getting tyranitar out quickly. I use skylas, they can grab floats, spirit links, hoopas (via ultra), vs seekers or energies (via prof's letter) don't have much to say bout yveltal, it's good in there but I don't really use it, you're call (I've also been thinking, solrock from primal clash, so you can grab special energies, but then you need to add dangerous, it's your call). Wha is important this to run shadow circle, there are LOTS of fighting decks that can ruin your day. (Or a weakness policy) An eco arm can be useful to grab discarded tools, what is compressor use? If you want I can post my deck list if you want any ideas.

Battle Compresser is good in most every deck, but in this one it is good for yveltal's oblivion wing.

hello,

I recently built and tested this deck as well, and while I don't have time for a full elaboration-type post, I can offer you this insight:

Crobat isn't even needed to take knockouts. Yeah, with just one Golbat M T-tar swings for 230. I think you can play one/zero Crobat just fine.

Yeah i'd, love to see your deck if you don't mind. I've contemplated adding more dangerous energy to hit newly introduced threats or things i haven't been able to use a bat on yet. Also thought about shadow circle, but thought delinquent might be a good option to get cards on top of removing a stadium. I do think i'll add in shadow circle because you're right in that the fighting weakness is a big issue.

I have crobat to ensure i can get damage counters on everything on the opponents side, i'm not too worried about how hard tyranitar will hit becasue it seems like two/three damage counters will get destroyer king to hit hard enough to knock out most/ just about everything ill deal with.

I honestly found Bats to be clunky for a deck like this, where you want to spread damage as much as possible. In that vein, I've testing with Forretress, who hits everything for 10 upon evolution. And quite frankly, you only really need 10 on the Defending Pokémon to be able to one-shot anything, including EXs, barring Megas and Wailord.

Although, to be perfectly honest, I feel this deck can perform better in Expanded rather than Standard, since you have access to Dark Cloak Darkrai-EX and Dark Patch.

I'm interested to try forretress versus the bats and adding in devolution spray from the new psychic kings set. I think that's a good way to get a good chunk of spread damage out and try to cover all my bases at once.

forrtetress is the way to go also through in a mewstic ex from generations she will help (only one mewstic ex)

I've played this deck quite a bit, and from that experience I offer the following comments for your consideration:
  • Similar to your OP, I ran just a 3-2-2 Bats line which were quite efficient.
  • All of the Bats have Fighting Resistance and free Retreat (except for Zubat). Unlike Forretress, opponents can't stall behind a Lysandre'd Golbat nor Crobat.
  • Bats can provide some protection against Fighting Pokémon.
  • All the Bats can snipe an opponent's benched Pokémon in addition to dropping damage counters - think about Combees and Joltiks...
  • You can place more damage counters onto a targeted Opponent's Pokémon faster than Forettress too.
I hope you find these comments helpful.

Yeah, it also helps that Pineco is Grass, so you can use your opponent's Forest against them in that sense.

I didn't even think about that. =D

But for the OP, I tested the heck out of M TTar when it first came out, the only viable and consistent list I could come up with was for expanded. I used only a 3-3 line of bats, and opted for hyper consistency on the setup, since only to damage counters were really needed to KO all major threats. I also played a one of Absol to get the clutch damage counters on a fresh active. But Dark Patch, and getting the free retreat from Darkrai DEX was a serious factor in all my testing, and without those cards you could very easily end up getting stuck with a high retreat, and not enough time to deal damage. I also only used a 2-2 line of ttar, and went heavy on yveltals opting to Y Cyclone for damage till i was sufficiently setup with a TTar, and then i would sweep from there. As for standard, i haven't even thought of testing it again because I could not a get a consistent build. But with N being reintroduced into the standard format, it may help the consistency, along with a few other cards that may be worth the inclusion. oh, and Hoopa EX is TTars best friend.
