Magneboar

hate to burst your bubble, but in the current format, these cards are not great. Emboar has a retreat cost of {C}{C}{C}{C}. That alone can lose you games. It's your decision, but if you want to win a tournament, magneboar is not a good choice.
EDIT: why do you hate magneel?

Guys, let's get back on topic. This is to make his Magneboar better, not make his confidence worse. Magneboar isn't outclassed by Magneel and doesn't outclass it. Both decks have pros and cons, but he wants to play Magneboar.

I'm not trying to lower his confidence. I'm trying to explain to him why in my opinion, magneel is the better play. In a catcher format, {C}{C}{C}{C} retreat cost can lose you games. It lost me the game I needed to make top cut once.
On topic: I've found that 4 lightning and 9 fire works better.

My point was that magneel may be the better play, but now we are discussing magneboar. I agree 4 lightning 9fire works, too.

Your right. I shouldn't be telling him a different deck is a better play. I should be giving advice on the deck. On topic, I'd drop an energy retrieval for another twins. You already have 2 fisherman, and twins can help you come back out of a pinch

I'd rather have energy retrieval then 2 Fisherman

But he already has 2 of each, so removing one still gives him enough consistensy. Fisherman is better than energy retrieval because late game when you need it, your not using any supporters anyway.

I personally think it depends on wether he's angleing to use reshiram and RDL or lost burn with magnezone.

I prefer Reshiram to Magnezone
Anyways, back to the counter to Magneel. Do I merely add another catcher?
And do you think I should add Mewtwo EX when he comes out?

Good point. Also, I'm at a loss as to what to take out for the catcher, everything is full.

Um, that isn't tournament legal.

I'm guessing the person above you deleted their post. Wow, I can't believe this thing got over 50 posts.

On topic: In this format, it lookslike this deck could really use badboar

We've discussed it, but I decided against it. And I'm still at a loss as to what to take out for Catcher, besides the extra Magneton.

^ No, no, no, and no. Have you looked at emboar's retreat cost? Without switch, that can and will lose you games. You use switch every time your emboar gets catchered

Switch isn't needed that much, because once they catcher up emboar, they are either going to KO it, or pass while they set up. While they set up, you can use that time to more of your advantage then they can.

They are going to have a hard time koing emboars 150 hp. Besides, in that time they use to set up, you could easily switch into magnezone and destroy that set up. Emboar active is not a good scenario. Switch is a must in this deck.

I just don't think that two is necessary, because you run a high Twins count, and there are much more necessary things then a second copy of swtich

2 is the bare minimum. What if your only one is prized? Then you have to spend quite a few turns getting the energy in your hand, providing you even have enough that aren't in the lost zone. Then, if they're a smart player, they'll snipe around it, then when it has 3 energy, kill it. That will lose you the game no matter what. Switch is crucial in this deck.
